I posted this on the thread called "The Purpose Of Sex" in The Playground section. Happy to share it here, with a few minor edits:
As a very mature couple, my wife and I have rekindled our passion as we have grown closer during retirement. We love passionate kissing, and that close entwinement often leads to full sex three or four times a week.

My wife is still shaking off some childhood trauma issues that have affected her throughout her whole life and is now enjoying a greater degree of psychological freedom than ever before. After being bullied and brainwashed by her mother, she grew up with a massive inferiority complex. Sex is one way that I can help her to feel loved for who she is and I always dedicate our lovemaking to giving her the pleasure she deserves.

That can often begin with making sure that our variety of positions are comfortable, both for her back and my knees!

This loving intimacy, and the increasing frequency of her orgasms, has produced an incredible transformation in her behaviour in bed. We have recently learned that she can orgasm from light pussy slapping, and she frequently takes charge by sucking my cock more than ever. After years of being a very reluctant cock sucker she is now doing so vigorously and enthusiastically and frequently swallows my cum. Also, if my cock goes a little soft she is happy to suck it back to full hardness.

We are at a time of our lives when we have made our health an absolute priority over work, and our slimmer, more supple bodies are capable of what we love to call our "sex marathons"!

We are so happy that sex is still a big part of our lives and we both take a loving, relaxed approach to making each other happy. Touching, kissing and discussing what we'd like to do with each other next time we make love produce delightful moments in everyday life.

We are both 71.

Life is good.

This seems like an appropriate thread to ask about folks' experience with viagra. But from the male (user) perspective and the female (and hopefully the beneficiary).
I started using it about 5 years ago for sex with my wife. My erections had started to lose firmness and reliability and, well, at this age, it seemed pretty natural to give this a try. While my friends don't talk about this much, a couple of comments had let me know that it was common among my peers.

I do experience feelings of minor congestion in my sinuses, but not really an issue. What I have noticed is that sometimes I lose the ability to ejaculate. I get nice and hard, and I feel the urge to climax build, but sometimes, it just sort of goes away and nothing comes out, so to speak. I have found that, on those occasions, when I know I'm going to lose that sensation, if I thurst in deep and clench like I'm having an orgasm, I can experience most of the sensations of orgasm, but no ejaculation. It feels good, and I sometimes can go for another round, which my wife likes, but I still don't shoot any cum.

I tried generic viagra but was underwhelmed with the results. I don’t have ED but as I’ve gotten older, my erections haven’t been as hard as before. So I tried Viagra but really couldn’t tell much of a difference in terms of hardness or duration of my erections. I know you have to time it right regarding eating or drinking alcohol but I really never saw enough improvement to keep taking it.

I occasionally take a Cialis and they seem to work fine for me. I've been married so long it does get sort of ho hum and the level of excitement does affect the whole experience, for me anyways

I take it for harder erections. No problem cumming. Best thing I ever did was taking nitric oxide supplements. It’s in a lot of workout powder for weightlifters. As we get older our body doesn’t make as much oxygen for our blood. This helps the blood flow in the cock. Helped tremendously. Get it on Amazon. Works for me…

I hope people do not feel that I am hijacking this message. This is an issue particularly relevant to our age group. I have also received PMs from men who presumably did not want to describe their own experiences on the Board.

I also use the generic. You are correct that food and drink impact the effectiveness. I use it either first thing in the morning or before dinner. After a large meal, it it is not effective. And a little canabis goes with it better than alcohol.

When I first started using it, I would take it only for sex with my wife. I occasionally go to massage parlors for a professional hand job, and I found that I got hard fine in that setting. I think this is, as you suggest, a response to the familiarity of one partner. But now I use it no matter what. I even use it sometimes for masturbation. I think its just because I'm getting older.

I'm not sure I would use a workout supplement used by weightlifters without a thorough understanding of the side effects.

One gentleman who responded privately said his wife was very surprised and pleased when he first started using it, but she has lost interest, and he now uses it for masturbation. This does point to the role of familiarity in the whole issue of arousal and erections. I do remember a comment a friend of mine made when a viagra commercial came on. This was shortly before the patent expired and generics were to come on the market. Throughout most of the period, ads had pictured "mature" couples looking happy and holding hands and seeming to be in love. But at this time, viagra started using ads featuring younger women, dressed sexy and looking lustfully at the camera (and presumably at the older men.) He said something to the effect that, if his wife looked like that, he wouldn't need it. I responded something to the effect that I thought viagra made your wife look like that. (This was before I started using it myself.)

Anyway, if people don't mind me raising this here, I hope we can continue the conversation.
