Britwitch's Cottage

...I smile as you approach...

I was hoping you'd stop by...

...my smile fading almost imperceptibly as you explain you cannot stay...pressing my own kiss to your cheek before you go...

...and you're welcome any time, will be looking forward to your visit...

...watches as you fade away amongst the trees, sending peaceful wishes your way, and sigh. My tea is finished and I have plenty to do today.

Rising I head inside, I climb the stairway into the loft and, after shedding the blanket, pull on faded jeans and a slightly too large sweater.
Underwear is forgone, deemed unnecessary for chopping wood.

I pick up the axe from just outside the door and, with the now empty wood basket in hand, I head off into the trees to use up a little energy...

I return with a now full wood basket balanced on my hip. The wood shed is also full now too.
A sheen of sweat and rain covers my skin, a smudge or two of dirt decorate my cheeks and forehead from my exertions with the axe.

Chucking a couple of freshly cut logs on the fire, breathing in their heavenly scent, I hang my largest cauldron over the flames to heat.
Definitely time for a bath...

Having pulled the tin bath tub in front of the fire, I fill it with steaming water from the cauldron and add a few drops of my favourite oil, frangipani, to the water.
I hang a large, fluffy towel over the back of a nearby chair to warm in the fire's glow as I step into the water.
A long soft sigh leaving my lips as I lean back in the softly scented steam.
I close my eyes and lay my head against the side of the bath...bliss.

Leisurely I bath, attending to all the important areas, wiping away the smudges from wood cutting. My fingers lingering over my chest as the globes rise to break the surface of the water. Biting my lower lip as I slowly circle the hardening peaks, toying with myself as the hot water caresses my body

The cottage still smells of frangipani even though the bath has long since been emptied.

I'm sat at the table, the door open to let the fresh air in, tying bundles of herbs and flowers to hang and dry from the rafters. Lavender, thyme, sage, rosemary, basil, mint and bunches of roses all being carefully tied with string ready for the coming winter.

From the oven comes the scent of my special savoury loaf, bread made with rosemary inside and grated cheddar cheese on the outside. My mouth watering already, thinking about cutting a thick wedge and smothering it with butter...

A busy evening to end the day...but now to rest...

After blowing out the candles and adding logs to the fire to keep it burning through the night, I climb the stairs to the loft...oil lamp in hand...

Undressing in it's dancing light I slip eagerly under the sheets and the homemade quilt that lays over the top, feeling their smooth, coolness against my skin...the mattress on the floor may be simple and basic but it is oh so comfortable, deliciously soft and yet reassuringly firm. Even in the harshness of winter here, in the blizzards and snow storms, this modest bed is snuggly and warm.

Several pillows are piled at the end closest to the little window that looks out into the night. Resting my head upon a couple I stretch slightly before hugging a third to me, thinking wistfully that the only thing to improve my bed is to have someone in it with me...

The sky is clear tonight, stars glistening in the night sky above the tree line, my eyes wander aimlessly among them as I settle down to sleep...

The morning is crisp and bright, a breeze making the branches of the trees dance gracefully, every so often sending a shower of golden leaves fluttering delicately and silently to the ground...

I take my notebook out into the garden, I have a lot of catching up to do and a busy weekend lies ahead so I want to try and get back on track...

The bench is a little way from the cottage, almost hidden from view by tall bushes that provide much needed shade in summer and a natural windbreak the rest of the time...

I settle down with my notebook on my knees and a shawl around my shoulders to keep out the morning chill...

I wander into her beautiful domain and am immediately enchanted......

Wandering until I find her seated on the bench I slowly approach her and gently hand her a simple white rose.

" We have never formerly met I am Yeishia, I hope we can be become friends," I whisper shyly sinking down beside her, hoping that I am not disturbing her tranquility this quiet morning.

I take the rose with a shy smile
"I hope so too, welcome to my little hideaway...was just going to head inside and make some tea...would you join me?"

"I should love some please," I stand up smiling shyly and follow her inside.

I lead you inside, depositing my notebook on the table before setting about making tea...
"I like having visitors" I smile
"Although I may have to leave you for a little while...real life is calling to me...sadly..."
I leave a mug of tea before you and a plate of freshly baked cookies
"Eat and drink what you wish, I will try not to leave you for too long...
I give an impulsive hug before dashing out the door...

I sit down enjoying watching her prepare our tea, it is so calming to watch this beautiful female go about her work, her every movement is like a small labor of love.

" Have no worry Britwitch I shall remain here if I may until your return unless of course the real world calls me also."

I blush and smile as she hugs me before heading out and close my eyes sipping my hot tea content to hide away in this most tranquil place.

The smell of fresh baked cookies assails my nostrils almost making me wish I could partake of them. Instead the smell takes me back to happy memories of my child hood.

Putting my tea down I loose myself in the memories and am soon sound asleep curled up in the corner of her comfy couch....

"I'm back...!"
I call as I come through the door only to stop and smile as I see my visitor slumbering peacefully.
I creep in and carefully cover you with a handmade quilt, not wanting to disturb you.
I gently brush some hair back from your face, so beautiful, before moving away to make myself a tea.

It's grown late and time to think of heading to bed, a long, exciting weekend away from the cottage lies ahead...
Wearing a sheer nightdress I move through the cottage blowing out candles and putting extra fuel on the fire, it's a cold night tonight...
Glancing around to check everything is done, oil lamp in hand, I giggle as my eyes fix on the expanse of bare wall next to the stairs...remembering a conversation from earlier in the day...
With a sigh I move to close the door so I can head up to the loft...

I reappear for a moment to give this, perhaps new friend, a good night hug.

"Sweet dreams dear Britwitch I hope that I can visit again when we both have more time." :rose:

Accepts and returns the hug from her latest acquaintance...
"Sweet dreams to you and I hope to be able to receive you properly sometime soon...do come back again whenever you feel like it..."

Yelps and giggles as Vail passes through, blowing a kiss after her retreating back

And so, to bed...good night all...

Shocked that Vail had actually touched me, I am momentarily distracted.

Giggling I turn to Britwitch.

"Acquaintance, yes I should like that it has a nice ring to it. I shall return another time. Sleep well"

Blowing her a kiss I fade back into the real world smiling.

I'm moving around the cottage, sipping at a mug of tea in between packing a small overnight bag with bits and pieces...
A weekend away in another cottage, in another wood, with a dear dear friend lie ahead...bliss...
Looking around I'm happy I have everything I need.
Heading out of the door, I pin a hand written note into the wood and, with a bright smile on my lips, walk down the winding path back to the real world, bag in hand and cloak fluttering behind me...

Back Sunday night...help yourself to the cookies!
xXxXxXx

Just as I find somewhere pleasant and inviting, the hostess unfortunately has to leave.
But then again, Sunday is just a few moments away, if I close my eyes.

I open the door and a long happy sigh leaves my lips...it's been a wonderful weekend full of reminiscing, saunas accompanied by swimming in lakes and time spent with a dear friend but it is oh so good to be home…

I hang my cloak up and, after making short work of lighting a fire, put water on to boil for tea…

Dark clouds are looming over the woods tonight and rain is not far away, I move around lighting candles and bathing the cottage in warm, dancing light…

I frown slightly and glance around, certain I can feel eyes on me from somewhere in the darkness...

Anyone there...?

watching...enjoying that she can't see me...but can sense someone is there

I consider closing the door but my curiosity overpowers my concerns and I leave it open...whoever it is, if indeed there is someone there, I can't believe they're here to cause trouble...

...mischief perhaps...

...the thought makes me giggle out loud as I pour the now steaming water into my mug to steep...

...I can hear rain starting to hit the leaves outside, soft for now but I don't doubt a downpour is on the way...
