bunny's BIG weekend

if you were to look on my bookshelf, you'd see things like wiess&hickman, r.a. salvatore, douglas adams, marquis de sade, grant naylor (i'm a dork)

Geek, honey. There's a difference. Those of us who are geeks prefer not to be called dorks.

For those of you reading HHGTTG, I still recommend you get ahold of the scripts for the original radio play. They are the funniest version of the whole thing (and where it all started.)

I'm a long time fan of English humour though, so I am somewhat biased.

What happened to nerd? Someone once told me the term 'geek' comes from guys who bit the heads off chickens for carnivals.

What's hhgttg?

Well, geeks are often nerds as well. Nerds tend to be people very focussed on study without social lives. Geeks are those of us who like computers, science fiction and techno-stuff.

Hitchhiker's Guide To The Galaxy -- Douglas Adams. It's where Bunny's quote about the meaning of life being 42 comes from.

My junior year in college, the college radio station put on the original radio version on Sunday nights. I remember about 8 of us squeezing around the radio to listen. :p

While i enjoy brittish humor i find books hard to get through unless they have some good solid plot line etc... I find it hard to be captivated by "HHGTTG" but i do enjoy going to it with my free time and reading a section, chortling to myself than putting it away again...
Douglas Adams also write "Last chance to see" and that has a plot because it's actually documenting his trips to foreign parts to view endangered species. I really, really loved that book.

Okie, I'll explain a bit more. The radio station got the original script, and had college kids come in and we listened to them do a broadcast.

It's kind of a dictionary of clever mispellings. Vaguely funny.

I think you can buy the BBC broadcasts on CD now. I got to hear them on the radio in my teens. :D

nonono, not just clever mispellings! it's words for things that nobody talks about, like that unpleasant warm feeling when you sit down and the seat is still warm from the stranger who sat there before you!

I wouldn't mind getting nr 4 and 11 myself.

the time: last night
the place: a cafe which i frequent

i rushed in to meet daddy, as i was already very late. this tardiness was not to go unnoticed, either. in a room full of strangers and a few aquaintances, he put me over his knee, hitched my skirt up and spanked me! he casually explained to anyone who asked that his daughter was late and needed to be punished for it. not only did the people at his table take notice, but we also caught the eyes of folks at other tables. i could hear the questions being hollared across the room and daddy's calm replies. i was torn between embarassment and sheer bliss! i'm just glad my ex-boyfriend had already left the room!
