Elle, you should be able to switch to an Italian keyboard. First you probably have to add it in language settings.

Yes, I can do that, but switching back is hard too. And even trying to get the wretched autocorrect off is a nightmare......the ipad says no to my typos and just turns itself back on, and makes its own

I have a love-hate relationship with autocorrect :-/
