Common Themes Across Your Stories

Thanks for the reminder - power imbalances are one of my frequent themes.
Indeed. I try to be mindful of power imbalances in my stories.

Like in the moose story, he was a powerful were-moose and she was a normal woman. Yet she had the power of having opposable thumbs :)

I share the occasional character between some of my stories, but with the exception of my "Before they were Stars" series focused certain women and their sexual exploits before they became famous, or my "Uncle Sugar Daddy" series where the same uncle provides financial support in exchange for sexual favors, I don't see a lot of similarities in what I write about. I may tend to write most of my erotica in first person, but even that is not carved in stone.

Sexually-dominant females and public nudity and humiliation (usually dudes).

Petite, small-boobed redheads, like me. I can't imagine being tall and blonde with big boobs.

Female protagonists who wind up with pregnant bellies and happy endings. Detailed birth scenes are also a common feature of my stories.

My tales are all over the map, thematically and stylistically, as experimentation is central to my writing motivations, but if pinned to the wall I'd have to say my main characters, both male and female, tend to be over-educated (as well as a bit self-conscious about that) and overthink everything, leading to a lot of confusion and ambiguity, immediate body-desires vs. longer term mind-hesitations. Dueling personas.

EDIT: And somehow most of my FMCs have an 'S' in their name: Suzanne, Sophy, Lisa, etc.

Not all of my stories, but probably more than half feature women and some men who are not conventionally pinup models. My theme is that ordinary people have healthy sexual desires, and are just as sexy as the beautiful people.

The only thing that is recurring in my stories is that most feature a lovely older woman and her young lover(s). I don't see many other parallels.

In looking at your writing here as a whole, do you have certain character types or turns of plot or specific phrases that you find yourself falling back on?
Character types:
Veteran (he or she or both) - patriotic and proud. A little worse for the wear but still proud. There always has to be a veteran somewhere in the plot
Well Educated - Either college or school of hard knocks. The only dummies I allow are the villains
Funny - gotta be able to tell a joke and take one too
Dark Past - always adds to the plot
Faithful - My couples are always exclusive and faithful to each other. Even in Loving Wives. They don't have to be married but they usually end up that way.
Strong - well, they are veterans, right?
Vulnerable - willing to open up to their partner when the darkness closes in

Phrases - I try to work in "my eyes are up here" somewhere in a story or series

Turns of Plot - Boy meets girl, after that it gets weird.

I've only written two stories so far, but I think a theme would probably be "normal" guy. The male protag is never super ripped, or hung like a horse or anything like that. I tend to write perfectly normal dudes with modestly sized dicks.

I'll be honest, story can be really good and lose me the moment the male character pulls down his pants and is rocking a nine inch cock.

I've published 63 stories. Common themes:

I'd say incest, since about half my stories have been incest stories, but I think the real underlying themes there are age/power imbalance and taboo, per se, as something that lends erotic zest.

Male voyeurism/female exhibitionism.

The female body in all its splendor. In particular I have a thing for the bodies of fit women over 40.

Sex positivity-- giving in to a sexual kink as something liberating and life affirming.

Romance, often forbidden romance (incest).

Office settings. This is an example of write what you know. I've spent my career as a professional working mostly in an office.

Whimsy and humor. I have a few dark stories but most of them are on the light side and a few are whimsical and humorous (although "how humorous" is a matter of taste, judging from the comments I get).

Dominance and submission.

My practice is to keep my erotica reading separate from my regular reading. I read erotica here on Lit and I read everything else by patronizing my local library. But your qualities look so attractive from a plain old fiction perspective that I think I'll give them a shot. If they're not too long. If I encounter a really long Lit story that I want to read I have to copy it into a Word doc and send it to my Kindle.

Edit: Well, I dipped in and found them too pure and lovely and romantic for me to break my practice and read plain literature (from my perspective) here. Not to mention that most of it is in series. I don't do series.

But I did give The Extra Special Magical Gift 5 stars for the elegeic tone. Good luck with the Winter Holiday contest!

Couldn't agree more. Proportionality is the thing!!!
I've gotta say that I do enjoy one series where the guy's cock hangs "almost to my knees." I just have to grit my teeth and hop over that.

I generally like a nice protagonist/story-teller (male or sometimes female) looking romantic love with some good romantic conflict along the way. I'm wondering how an upcoming story with a good guy pushed too far is going to be received.

I think redheads are probably a lot more common in Lit stories than they are in real life.
Unless you're Irish? Estimates are that 10 to 30 percent of Irish are some shade of red, making them the highest percent per capita in the world.

Seriously, coming from a family with a lot of Irish DNA on both sides, there were a lot of redheads in my family (3 generations of redheads in a row on one side, multiple redheads in at least two generations on the other), I felt myself lucky to be something other than red-headed and stayed as far away from redheads as I could when I was dating (one date with one redhead, one time!). I appreciate them now and about 20% of the female love-interests have red hair in my stories as a result.

The 'me too' movement is a common theme. Typically a woman discovers people around her are fucking like rabbits, is temporarily shocked then says 'me too' and joins in.

One of my first girlfriends had as bright a carrot top as I've ever seen, and an Irish name to go with it. She got the hair color from her mom, but her sister was brunette. She was also a genius with a gift for languages and spoke six before we graduated from High School. When last I checked she was an English professor at a small university near where we grew up.

Almost all of mine are detailed...some think to much...others like.
I get deep into the characters.
Struggle with words like: two, too, and to. In general struggle with grammar.
My stories have a realistic sense to them. Sex isn't always great and many times it can be a struggle.
Women as predators. I have had a great story taken down because I used a realistic approach to this. Someone believed it was a true story.
Small cocks.
Love and relationship
Fetishes & kinks. Female characters end up wearing jeans or lingerie.
Mention Pee; specifically peeing in pants.
A quarter of them are interracial; women are ebony.
The importance of communication
LOL...many turn up longer than I intended. Even after rewriting.
Female Masturbation

Also applies to women for me. I like my women proportionate, not wearing a size two pants and rocking E cups. I know ilyhose girls exist, but not every story needs a thin girl with giant tits.
