AND our current system does not allow for voting 2nd and 3rd place...or even catagory winners: eg "best pencil rendering", "best photo", "Best digital", "best concept", "most erotic", "bets NON-erotic".....etc...

so...we work within these limitations. And the "winner" loses...in that that person doesn't get to enter in the subsequent contest.
:p

I think that is where the PM message vote comes into it. Where a ballet sheet is made up where you vote for "best overall art" and then subcategories like penciled, photography, inked, or general. It may complicate things but it may give credit to more people where it is due.

On ego inflating there should be a competition to create a stamp or little picture thing for those who win these contests :p  but that might be a bit too in your face.

Also judging by how many entered this comp and what will happen with continuing contests, is it worthy to consider opening a website be it a simple like blog or freespace one show-casing all the art that is presented in the competition. That might be abit much in terms of work but would be nice to have a sort of gallery for everyone. On that we could end up voting on the best piece of the month or year aswell.

I'm not overly afraid of my images being pirated from here. Due to the size restrictions of Literotica we must massively downgrade our images to upload them anyways. Anyone with enough talent to be able to enlarge it back to it's original size without losing even more quality, can have it *chuckle* I mean, my camera already doesn't print very well, and nothing beyond a 4*6 photo.. it's only a 3.2 megapixel after all. Anything stolen from this site (which is why I don't host my full sized pictures elsewhere and just upload here..) won't be very printable at all. The most use someone could get out of it is website graphics.. And I know some people would still do that, but I have the original version, time stamped and backed up on DVD.. I can prove it's mine with ease.

Hi ya Hun...missed you...Am looking forward to any and all contributions by ya'll. :D

Thanks DG, been exploring this little niche on Lit and would love to port my whole Artsy Fartsy and Erotic Art threads over... but hey starting anew could be fun ;) I am just a photographer and sometime renditioner. This is not for the competition, but it was fun going back and looking for "window" pics ... hope you don't mind me linking one here.

Framed Flash Oil

EB, I miss you to, haven't been active at all myself on Lit for a long while especially since the broken leg, but this little niche is not only visually gratifying, but also feels nice and comfy for an occasional visit ;)

Oh what a nice pic..but...a lil distorted?

Hong...Please come visit me...I would love to catch up with ya'll....Hugs and Butterfly kisses!

From my point of view, # 1, #6, #7 and #8 embody erotic expression in ways that capture my imagination. I love # 10. It's a darned amazing image, but I'm at a loss to find erotic muse from it. On a merit scale it's amazing, on an erotic scale, I'm lost. # 3 is pretty as photoshop work goes, definately an A academicaly speaking. Personally, I find the walleyed image in the iris a bit sloppy. If you're going to cut and paste, could you please at least clean up distortion. The female face is painfully distorted. The gorgeous blue eye hides her, yet is so gorgeous and appealing you can easily miss her.

I would have given # 3 my vote except for that pasting of the walleyed nuded into the stock mage of a gorgeous eye. Is she a stock image too? was my 1st thought.

My vote went to # 6, though If I'd had 2 votes, # 1 would have been my next choice.

# 6 expended hours of work just getting the pencil version to a point where it was postable. It was obvious to me from the outset. To me that dedication speaks as much to the underlying erotic appeal as the idea and initial work does. Each and every pencil stroke reaches in and stems out from the sensual awareness of the artist.

Now this part is a bit of an annoyed observation....
As for the comment from the psuedo expert about copyright. give me a break, and please be my guest and go suck an egg. You have NO clue! When and only when you've had in excess of 100 pieces of your work lifted and reposted under some one else's name on a paysite charging more that 14 dollars per membership, a site that gets more that 10,000 uniques visitors per week, THEN you may speak with authority. I've had that experience twice. By the way, there is NO reasonable economic recourse. What there is, is the embarrassment factor. PERIOD. NOTHING ELSE! I reserve the right to retain the embarrassment factor regardless of what you "self proclaimed expert" insist on proclaiming about the reasonableness of copyright in small settings like this. Your dismissive arrogance is telling.

My experrtise, and jaded point of view comes from REAL life experience. When you can top that speak up. Untill then... P~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Well I can't top anything. All I can say is that if you are that worried...do not contribute. It is as simple as just that....If you want to partake than do so...know your limits and all...otherwise just refrain from putting your "expertise" out there...Seems simple to a simpleton  For those who are not woried about it, they will partake in the submissions.

Mind you this is from one lil pion out there with no expertise in anything...just my .02 worth of opinion...leave it or maybe think about it?

Hey Dark Glasses,

I wasnt serious about being a Loser, I know I have abilities, and I know I only have highschool art behind me. As I said, I wasnt serious.

I must say I am glad I wasnt included in Pattydraws post on what she thought of the other entries. Im not sure if I could have handled her comments. Like you said, some of us are in this because we like to sketch!

As for all the other hub bub, if you dont want your pictures 'taken' then dont post! Simple as that! Heck, I take pictures from the net from google that have shops names wrote across them , if I like it I use it, but only for myself. My bad!

Yup

My comment was shitty as I read it now. I didn't intend it to be, but it is.

No excuses. Just apologies.

I'm an ass at 2AM. I stand by ire about the copyright comment that set me off though. He was insensitive.

My comment was worse than his though. Like I said, I'm an ass.

As for partaking, I have been partaking and I thought, generously sharing here in these art threads for quite a while now, and yeah, I admit it, I'm demoralized by my work's piss poor showing. I shouldn't be, but, I am.

I'm sorry for being the ugly shit that I was last night.

Sorry to come here so late...time appears to be against me lol.

I love the submissions. Right now there is three that have caught my eye. Choices ..choices..Think I'll come back tomorrow and then vote. 3 something in the morning isn't a good time to make my vote.

As for the rules of the contest, copy right and all that...I'm fine with whatever everyone decides. Not picky in the least....no one ever wants my works(maybe that's why  ) I entered to have fun since I haven't really been involved with anything on lit these past few months.

Renaissance, Literotica style ...

Well, it looks like things have finally settled down here.

From reading the discussions that have been transpiring here, I think that my original ideals behind this little endeavor have gotten a bit perverted, and not in a good way.

Refer back to my original thread:Art Contest Anyone?

Specifically the part just after the rules that reads, "Basically this will be a fun way for the artists here to push themselves, their skills, and their limitations, and the their fellow Litizens will get some cool new material to look at. Its a win/win deal."

It really wasn't my intention for this to be about egos or critiques, but more so about artists being given a common suggestion, and all the artists that decide to participate get to see how everyone else took the suggestion and ran with it.

This would also be a great opportunity for artists to discuss their thought processes with the ideas given, just as Dolf shared with everyone in the first contest. Not to mention discussions of techniques, materials, programs or other equipment.

In short; I was envisioning more of a free exchange between the artists in order to perhaps provide fellow artists with everything from basic, or not-so-basic how-to's, thought processes with the given ideas, even with plain old inspiration, or lack there of.

In the interim our fellow Literoticans would get a steady supply of new visuals that may even inspire works of there own.

It would be a win/win situation, no matter what the votes say, yes?

Now perhaps, in the next contest, maybe we can rise to the greater challenge of not having contestants that are put into the positions of apologizing or feeling as if they should no longer participate because of bruised egos.

I would also suggest that any artists, of any medium, who enters these contests should specify to the person conducting the contest as to whether or not you want critiques of your work. It won't mean that someone won't do it anyway, there's always a flamer somewhere, but at least the conductor of the contest can post with your submission what your preferences are.

As far as copyrights are concerned; How long has van Gough, DaVinci, Picasso, etc., been dead? And how often has someone made a profit from their works by reproducing them somehow? If you're that stressed about it, don't ever let anyone see your work ever. Create it, and then lock it up tight in some dark little space with specific instructions to burn without viewing once you're dead and buried.

For everyone else, get out here where we can see you and let us enjoy your creations as much as you enjoy creating them.

:rose:'s to all.

I probably shouldn't reply to this at this point since the competition isn't over yet, but I just got back after some time away and I just had to say something here...

All the images I used to create #3 are photos that were taken by me with the exception of the eye photo which was taken by my good friend supahspaz and emailed to me. So none are stock photos. I do thank you for the compliment that they are of stock photo quality. :)

I don't understand what you meant by "walleyed". The distortion I think you are referring to is something that I did on purpose when I took the background photo in an old civil war fort near where I live. It was very dark and the light shining through the windows at the end of the hall made it look spooky to me. That was intentional on my part. The fact that Lit limits our posting size has a lot to do with not being able to see as clearly in this size as you can in the original.

I will be happy to show all the images that I used to create the final piece when the competition is over.
