Do you re-read your own stories? How often? How do they strike you?

Just this week I reread one of my older stories that had recently gained some more comments. And yes, my first thought was 'who wrote this?' tinged with an amount of concern that it had my name attached to it. But like some of the other replies here, I rode the rough patches and saw a lot of good in it, happy to revisit those characters and events again.
And for the record, yes, I reread my series entries when I am writing new episodes, checking for consistency and always finding loose threads asking for more attention, too.
Oh and by the way, how does one lose their virginity on this site? Just askin'

I just discovered a 6,000 word story that I wrote back in 2018 via the Wayback Machine, which I'd forgotten all about. It's a gender-swap story inspired by all those movies/tv shows in the 80's like Milly/Molly, the one with Gene Wilder, etc etc.

It's not amazing... problem being I needed a plot to stick around the gender swap concept, and it got a bit convoluted, but hey, didn't stop me spending a few hours yesterday redrafting it and posting it here. :)

Reading it was a mix of - Oh yes, that's right, I remember now - down to - Oh, that's just confusingly awkward.

Hopefully the re-write helped.

I’m really proud of what I’ve written … but when I go to read them, I get bored of myself fairly quick. Hopefully my readers don’t feel the same 😅

LOL. I write the kind of stories I like to read and honestly, I love some of my own stories, and I'll go back and read them and wonder how the heck I thought of that. LOL. The heptapod one still cracks me up and the Buzz one sends shivers down my spine. I read back now and then, some more than others, but I d0 enjoy my own stories.

I sometimes re-read stories when I see someone has Favourited or commented on one of them, especially if it's an older story and I can't remember it in detail.

So last night I re-read Making Lemonade (woman's friends at a reunion help find her a guy to have some casual rebound sex with - they promise he's good despite a small cock), and decided it's a nice little story with good dialogue. More about the dialogue than the sex, but it's still fun. Better structured than many of my stories.
