I remember being shocked when my ex was expecting our youngest; we met a woman at anti-natal class that genuinely told us that she had continued smoking throughout pregnancy as she had heard this meant her baby would be smaller and therefore the birth wouldn't hurt as much!

This was 1994 not 1954!

My story

Imagine my surprise one day on FetLife when I saw 1950's lifestyle was a "thing". Of course, many things on there surprised me, but this made me giggle. I had been living this for 20 years of my marriage. It wasn't a kink, it's just the way things were and I had no problem with it. I know it's not everyone's cup of tea. I've heard, "why would you give up your job to get married?" First of all, he was military and my job came second to his, and it didn't bother me.

I loved being the one taking care of home and children while he went off to work to provide. That doesn't mean I didn't contribute to things. My job (after educating our kids) was to find ways to save money, among other things. I canned and froze food, made my dresses and taught my daughter to sew, I made our own all-natural soaps, oils, bathbombs (and started my own business selling them).

As a submissive, it just felt right to be in that place, my place...even if my husband was more domineering than dominant.
