Epiphanies

Wow, I'm not sure I've ever been so complimented. A gelded genius. I had to do some self-exploration to see if my gooseberries were still there. I do appreciate you comparing my dangly bits to a horse though. That's how I read it anyway. :)

I'll quote Hank Williams Jr. "A country boy can survive." When the elites finally bring Rome down from all their games, we'll still be here.

Laugh! I was just readin about how much money your 401K steals from you every year, and you aint a stallion, you aint even gelded, youre a mare!

Not my 401K. I don't like anyone telling me when I can have my money back or I have to pay a penalty to use it. I read through all those words most don't and saw how flawed they are and how much I'm not really making any guaranteed money. I can invest on my own and lose as much as they can. I'm well hung in that department. My Grandpappy always said, "Never trust another man with your wallet or your wife."

Here goes nothing. IQ is a measure of intel. Level of education is not. You can't teach intel. any more than you can create energy. You re born with your IQ and even if you never step into a classroom your IQ will be the same when you're 50. This is not opinion. This is fact. I believe a person with a higher IQ will absorb more information than s/he with a lower IQ -- all things being equal.

I left school when I was 15 and home when I was 16. The first IQ test I had measured it as 131. When I went into the Marines they measured my IQ at ... 131. When I came out of Peace Corps and was being pressured to "go to school" I was given yet another IQ test. Result, 132. I was NEVER in a classroom from the time I left, 15, to the time I entered college at 35.

I lasted about 3 years in college. It was the most boring period of my life. Who the fuck can tell me what Hemingway was thinking or what his deep meaning to "Man of the Sea was? I had one idiot professor (Englich Lit) explain the "true meaning" of Edward Albee's "Sandbox," Mr. Albee was in Boston opening a play and I asked him if he would talk to the professor. He did and he told the professor his interpretation was too Freudian and wrong. Another professor (Economics) set out to disect the Indian financial state. I had just returned from LIVING in India and disagreed strongly with structural analysis of finance and political power there. He dismissed my opinion -- telling me my theory was incorrect, interesting but incorrect. I called on a friend in the American Embassy to set the professor straight and wore Indian Pyjamas to school for the balance of the semester to make the professor uncomfortable.

Beig wrong is nothing to get worked up about. I've been wrong too many times in my life not to uderstand how less than perfect we all are. The mistake the professors made was arragance - believing they had THE answer and not being open to a fair arguement with an undergraduate. This is not a place of "learning" for me.

I share plenty of your convictions but not the part about IQ remaining stable over time. Mine is 85, thats the bottom rung of the normal range, the very bottom. I've have retarded kids called me an idiot. So I'm not sold on the validity or reliability of IQ scores, or I may simply be, like Rainman, an idiot-savant with a bag fulla cute tricks. Of course, some folks here are confident my score is prolly high.

To my simple way of thinking 'intelligence is how well you cope with novelty when Life drops a WTF in your lap. To me thats the real test.

Going with the WAIS distribution of IQ scores, I'd say your 130 score seems right. You prolly got the horsepower to be what you wanna be, and 130 will get you there with plenty of power for the hills, pulling an Air stream.

blufairy says i'm fulla shit, i dont agree but think i summed her points up succinctly without exploiting the opportunity to quarrel or fill the thread with defensive blabber. if i'm wrong about the gist of her post she may correct me. its okay to think i'm nutty or whatever, and i dont think she's evil.
actually: if you really read what she's saying, that isn't at all what her post says, james. but if previous history is any kind of indication, i'm not exactly holding my breath over here. like i said: other people's posts are for you an excuse to post and post again.

james quoth:
as for you, everbody gets an opinion, and no one is obligated to swoon over what you or i blabber about.
i've been in online discussions for over 2 decades. i have no illusions about how people perceive my observations.

i do however wonder whether you can say the same.

Hey? Stop already! Youre not serious at all about engaging me for real, and I wont take you seriously until you do. I mirror the attitudes people bring me. Your posts remind me of Aunt Pitty Pat with the vapors.

An old man I usta know listed his priorities thusly: Dont fuck with my dog, my truck, my gun, or my wife.

I know how painful it is to lose a good dog.
