That's a beautiful statue, AA.
ANd sooooo detailed, down to the lines on her feet.

From the same place as AA's statue, they are from Copenhagen but I don't know anything else.

Would be nice to know since I only live 30min from Copenhagen. :)

After searching around my guess would be the Ny Carlsberg Glyptotek in Copenhagen, I might just have to go over to verify

If you could that would be sincerely appreciated. i'd like to know the artist(s) and names of the works for both posted.

Hmm, it seams they are closed for renovation until 28. June 2006. They have a small part open but I don't think I'll find these sculptures there.

The sculptures are probably from their ancient Greek collection, so I don't think the name of the artist(s) will do you much good. They have been dead for a few thousands years. :D

But I'll see what I can do, but I don't think I can do to much until they reopen. :(

The Alter Ego statue would make a rocking pair of book ends. Split down the middle, one on each side of a special book collection.

Lovely as always, AA.

I can't quite put my finger on it... but I don't think these statues are from Anicent Greece... too little weathering for one. Though I realize you could make arguements against this...

I've had to study a lot of Anceint Greek art and I just don't feel like I'm looking at the real thing when I look at these marble ladies. I think they're Greek Revival from the Renaissance. They to me aren't as stoic, more emotional pieces from a more Romanesque time period... and they are definitely more impressionistic.

A little back up to what I'm saying - Look across the hall from some of these nudes and you'll see ladies and lords in Renaissance finery - perhaps because that particular room is devoted to work from that time period and NOT classic Greek art.

But I'm an architecture student, not an art student... I could be wrong... which is to say, some of them may be from Anceint Greece, but not all of them - the bronze are not, the one holding the violin definitely isnt' and a few of the hair styles on the others make me doubt them too.

You are probably right, they could be from one of their other collections. I just assumed they where from ancient greek since they have a large Greek and Roman collection.

The photos are from several different places in Copenhagen and the only one I know for sure is from Glyptoteket is this one http://domai.com/art/stoneladies/images/copenhagensculpture-0195.jpg
