I know that clothing purchased that you cannot wear out and about under "normal" circumstanced can be tax-deductible, but I think there may be a fine line with regard to writing off the cost of fetish attire, because it CAN be worn at BDSM events.

That nice lady who always is so polite at the school? She might go home and strip naked for her master.

If you are a scene professional, an educator, a Dominatrix, an author, what have you - it seems to me that going to an SM event is professional development just as it would be if you were at a technical conference if you're an engineer.
Yea, it does suck. On a positive note, getting more people enables them to raise more money for good causes. And there are the events surrounding it which are still fun - the Citadel (are you familiar?) holds an overnight "lock-down" pajama party, for instance. And then there's the Folsom Fringe Fest in San Jose, which IS for the community... NeonNetzach said:I'm not going to folsom, and it bums me out to hear it's gotten touristy. I tend to do DC and NYC events when I have the energy, or rope-based ones.
Dory Alley is primarily a Leathermen's event but others who are into BDSM definitely attend - takes place the last part of July. The Folsom Fringe fest is sponsored by SModessy - their premier event - held in San Jose the same weekend as Folsom Street - it is as much a "conference" with workshops, etc. as it is a festival - there are play parties...AndrewKay said:Tell me more about this Dory Alley and Fringe Fest.
So it is still more of an local back street event, as it was 5, 6 years ago, right?neonflux said:(There isn't a lot of online info about Dory Alley)
