Happy Towel Day! So, as they say in the Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy, don’t forget your towel, and 42 is the answer to the ultimate question of life, the universe, and everything.

I didn't know you had your own little place too....it's been a while since I've read that. Makes me want to read it again...and you're a tease lol ; )

This place is open to all with a geeky disposition. I haven’t hosted my own thread in years.

It’s been a while since I read that one, too. Truth be told I have a lot on my reading list and not a lot of time to read. It kinda sucks.

My friend, I am, indeed, a tease. I have to keep you coming back for more somehow, don’t I? ;)

I'm not sure if I qualify then lol...I can look anyway can't I?

I'm in the same boat....I read a lot but most of it is for work. I don't mind that but miss reading for pleasure sometimes.

And you don't have to tease me to keep me coming back ; )

Most of my literary intake these days in the form of audiobooks. I just finished listening to The Haunting of Hill House. I listen to those during my commute to and from work.

I don't seem to do well with audio books...I like a real book in hand, but I see the appeal. What's it about...and are you enjoying it? I could look it up but I'd rather hear it from you ; )

It’s a haunted house story, more psychological terror than horror. It was just okay. The only reasons I read it were the fact that Stephen King calls it a classic, and I binge watched the Netflix series while I was in self quarantine. Maybe if there was a better narrator who didn’t practically whisper at points it would have been better.

That's one of the worst things about audio books...sometimes the narrators just suck lol! I'm surprised it's just ok if Stephen King loved it...usually the books are better than the shows.

This was a very loose adaptation. The location of Hill House was the only thing that was the same in both media. The characters only bore a passing resemblance to their literary counterparts, and some characters were absent completely, whole new ones were created whole cloth for the series. There were two film versions of it, the one from 1999 sucked, and I haven’t seen the one from 1963.

One of the best audiobook narrators was James Marters, who played Spike in Buffy the Vampire Slayer. He reads the Dresden Files novels and is amazing!

I'm usually not a fan when movies stray too far from the original...most times it's a disappointment. Now I have to go and look up Dresden Files...I'm surprised that Marters does audio books...did not know that.
