This thread and pic remind me of an incident involving the celebrated British conductor, Sir Thomas Beecham. He was rehearsing a score with the orchestra and a talented guest soloist - a cello player. The rehearsal was not going well. The female soloist was having a bad time of it and Sir Thomas was becoming exasperated by her sub-standard playing. When he'd had enough, he addressed the cellist in front of the entire orchestra saying, "Madam, between your legs you have an instrument that is capable of giving pleasure to thousands, but all you can do is sit there and scratch it!"
