Glory Days

You are recruited for the CIA, but once in, you aren't called/considered that. There is a core "career trainee" cadre (trained to do all sorts of things), but they aren't called recruits either. They are referred to as CTs throughout their career.

I have an Air Force background. Recruiters recruit, but once enlisted we are all airmen. Worthless, pathetic airmen, but airmen all the same. And when we got to our technical schools we were called "pingers" because our hair was cut so short, and as the individual strands "grew out" they would arguably "ping". Or so the theory went.

Just my experience.

Now that we've retired and joined the workforce, drawing both a retirement and a salary, now w're called "lucky bastards".

There is no luck involved.

Put my life on the line, served my country, did its bidding, and now I'm starting to accrue the vast difference in pay I had been deprived of if I'd gone into the private sector.

Thank the good Lord I did so under a different administration.

My heart and respect goes out to those still active, they have my love and support.
