I wear thongs 90 % of the time, be they male or female thongs. I've been wearing them for a long time now so it's really nothing special about them, it just feels natural now for me to put them on.

As to the OPs original questions, I think over time attitudes will change with some people, just as the male grooming phase has. Since I'm a guy, I can't answer for what women think, but there are stereo types still out there too.
