hey Magnetron!

Is your life so placid you need this kind of drama?

My life was pretty dull until this kind of drama was dumped in my lap.

Though I have to admit to being jealous of Chip Booty - his topic started the day after mine and it already has 3X the replies.

It takes a whole 5 seconds to neutralize the evil threat that is Magnetron and his Death Star like planet destroying ability of moving topics out of Story Feedback and into Looking For A Story.

bot.gif

But then the Person In Charge Of The Big Buttons can't even be bothered to finish him off with a single tap of the finger after .... what .... 48 hours?

With each passing day this whole situation continues to get dumber than that dumbass pointless.

Pointless can't put you on ignore, so you still have that.

One thing I really am curious about is why I was penalized for casual saying something in the Free Speech Zone that Literotica supposedly is.

Or was that Pandora's Box something else meant to be swept under the rug if I would have just rolled over and quietly accepted my fate.

Several hundred racist Bunny Slippers threads insulting and scaring away thousands of potential registrants with money to burn on adverts, cams and strap-on dildoes every year.

Yet there is a shit storm over this.

that's not what it was about, mag

bunny and all of those can be put on ignore
as a mod, you couldn't, and because of the board's history (as was explained to you) your off the cuff comments about accessing personal information (as lots might fear from the mention of IP addresses) stirred a hornet's nest. some of us come here quite openly, but there are those for whom anonymity is important. your comments were naive though not ill-intentioned: a lack of confidence in the site over anonymity can be very damaging. all that other stuff? your intentions were honorable, defending the site's reputation, and yet your own comment was the only one that had the ability to cause issues here. nobody much takes any notice of those other trolls talking shit about this place, and it was a bad judgement call on your part whether or not you can see that yet. :rose:

I just thought it was the raging megalomania after the weeks of ass kissing to get the oh-so-important "job." And maybe the squealing once it all fell apart.

You are refering to my comment about potential registrants who can't use the Ignore function because they have yet to register, who read the racist fiflth and spend their money at the establishment down the road.

An acceptable lack of confidence in response to what is Freely Speeched.

Freedom of speech only works if you're one of the pitch fork wielding mob of "cool kids" here.

You also have to note that this site is infiltrated with PC police who are out to harass you for anything that they can try to twist into being racist or homophobic in any way.

Some of the people here are like those losers who latch onto churches because its an excuse to feel superior and point their fingers at others in a lame attempt to make them look like something other than the losers they are

i did warn him right at the start

when you take on a modship, you need to be that much more aware of posting with discretion.
as a non-mod, say what you like with those few but clear restrictions.

the nature of this site means the commodity of privacy is paramount - whether that be who you are in the meat world or what you say to others in the privacy of PMs. it's a fundamental privilege the site owners award us - and for free! you mess with that, or people's perceptions of it, that's poor posting in general and incompetent modding.

i had to self-edit what i posted as a mod; as a non-mod i can post whatever i like (more or less).

I learned, when I modded the GLBT Forum, that if I just posted a personal opinion, like "I don't like poppers", I'd come back the next day and find someone who was upset because "the mods have banned discussion of poppers". So, even in mundane matters, a mod needs to step carefully.

And when the issue is, as you've pointed out, personal privacy, there is absolutely no wiggle room. A mod should never say anything that would cause a member, any member, to feel like there is even the slightest possibility that their privacy is being, or can be, breeched. Magnetron violated the integrity of the site with his smug claims that he could easily find anyone's IP address. He then compounded the matter by sneering not only at anyone who might be concerned for his privacy, but at those of us who tried to explain to him why a moderator should not make such a public claim, whether it had any validity or not.

Part of the problem is that he has no institutional memory of the GB. We HAD a moderator who got access to the personal info of Lit members and shared it with their board "enemies". This may all be an academic issue to Magnetron, but it's a very real one to long time GBers.

Butters, I appreciate you stepping in to explain things.

Allow me to explain something.

This is what I believe should have been the appropriate course of action.

Magnetron is no longer a Moderator at Literotica because he is a liability now that people here can't trust him due to what he said about IP addresses.

Situation resolved, everyone moves on with their lives.

yeah, personal opinions expressed by a mod get jumped on for all manner of agendas. had to deal with a few numpties complaining about my own posts - numpties who were trolling and hated the fact i was fairly new to the site and modding  at a base level, modding's nothing more than the cleaners clearing up the crap day in, day out; when you add the ton of PMs complaining about this or that or them and who, it's not the funnest thing to do. but it can be so much more, particualrly here on the poetry forum! you can get things rolling and get involved, keep the threads moving by replying to posts that might fall by the wayside, crit poetry posts and generally stop the board from stagnating. and that's why i felt obliged to hand back my modding keys when i got full-time work - not enough time to do a good job and didn't want to do a bad one.

that GB fiasco was before my time, but i've heard about it on a regular basis. it's like a baker's getting known for the employee who was found to be spitting in the food - they might get immediate dismissal but the damage is done and the baker's has to work long and hard to regain public trust.

i don't believe you should infer dishonesty from laurel when she chose to deal with it in private to probably save your feelings as well as not to fuel the thread and paranoia. you might have chosen to deal with it differently, but this is their site. shame it all worked out the way it did.

Yes, it is a shame it all worked out the way it did.

IF it was meant to spare my feelings,

it backfired.

Otherwise, the thread would have ended as far as I was concerned.

When you capitalize letters like THAT, I feel so much more secure about my private information NOW.

Maybe we should both just STFU.

Well, I certainly can't argue with that statement, as I haven't the slightest idea what it means.
