Gosh yes! Some of the most spectacular abandoned places I've seen.
I finally have a reason to visit Fuerteventura.

Gosh yes!
And the related link is equally mesmerising. Distractify has made it onto my bookmarks bar.

Those are amazing!
I'm fascinated by abandoned or even just deserted places designed for lots of people.
We were in Croatia once during the war and walked past one of those big beach hotel complexes when it was deserted. I don't think I'll ever forget the feeling there.
Yes I have been there too, the old East Germany is full of things like that. Those are pretty, too! I've never seen a live badger. Salo's not that far away, hmmm.
I can imagine! I went to Rügen island in Germany in 2008. There's an absolutely massive beach resort complex there that was built as for the nazi elite in the 30s but was never used, because the war broke out just when the building was finished. It was meant to house around 20 000 people, so the site really is big. Even on a sunny day seeing something so huge completely empty sent chills down my spine.
My usual picnic spot is surrounded by abandoned villas from the late 19th century. It's a bit eerie, but in a good way. The there view is amazing, the rocks are smooth and it's not a popular place because it's a bit difficult to get to. It's absolutely perfect for spending a summer day. There's even a small sandy beach if you prefer that to the smooth rocks, so you can easily go swimming. Or if you prefer, there's even a murky pond you can jump into. It's the place I always take my visitors to, at least in summer.
