Not sure what the temperature outside is, but this thread has definately gotten colder.

Many people post to this forum (both pages) because they do not ususally meet with the same derision and unkindness that is seen on the GB.
For many, this has been a more comfortable place and most have felt able to express their ideas and opinions here without feeling they will be attacked or talked down to or made fun of for doing a thread that maybe someone else thinks is goofy.
But, change is inevitable and perhaps things are changing on this board, too. There are lots of new faces here with fresh new ideas. I hope they will never feel that their voice is not heard or that they can't express themselves.

Well, today is the first day it has gone above zero in a week, and we are getting snow. The past week, we had minus 10 to 20 degrees on the thermometer, with a wind chill taking it down to about minus 40.
Needless to say, everyone stays indoors, even the ice fishermen. So what else is there to do but pull out the toy bag? Ha. (That is, of course, after you have moved the car somewhere out of the wind, plugged in its radiator heater and put a quilt over the hood, disconnected the battery and brought it inside for the night, made sure every faucet in the house is dripping, checked the insulation in all the window sills to be sure no big drafts are coming in, and hoped the projected "rolling blackouts" being threatened to cut down on energy consumption don't materialize.)

As for the cold, anything is better than Thursday morning. It was -29 F with a windchill factor of -36 and my flipping car broke down on the way to work!

Then the lens popped out of my glasses when I knocked on the door of some farmhouse a quarter mile away.

I read that on CNN.com but i thought thst was in Celcius.
I wonder how cold -36 F is in celcius

Once temperatures get that cold, the differences in the two scales are minimal. It's at the higher temps that there's a big difference for some reason.

i'll never forget staying with my dad in NY state while convalescing... i was recovering from mono... and one day, the weatherman said "It's going to be really cold! 14 degrees!"
i thought "14 degrees! That's so nice and mild, especially for this time of year!" i grabbed my spring jacket and rushed outside...
only to be blasted with a gust of the coldest wind the second i opened the door. i slammed it shut, muttering to myself...
"fuck, right, not celcius!"
Tomorrow AM we're supposed to have temp of -14c (6.8f) with windchill of -27c (-16.6).
i am so wearing longjohns to work.

It was -10 and windy when i got out of bed this morning, all i can say is spring has to come eventually. Have you noticed how this kind of cold wear on your body.WriterDom said:
