How did you pick your user name??

Because my narcissistic delusions of superiority compelled me to select a username that affirms my obviously unparalleled vocabulary and proficiency in the intellectual pursuits.

...I use the same username everywhere so I decided against using it on this specific site, and was inspired by the book that just so happened to be facing outwards on a nearby shelf.

I can't imagine you as anything else. Do you mind being called Con?

When I first came here I had a different profile. My old name was apparently a magnet for creeps and assholes. Literally 10 or more random messages a day. Life happened and I took a step back. When I decided to come back I couldn't remember my old name and password so I made a new one. I wish I had thought on it longer. I tried first my grade school nickname but it was taken, and... Probably would have been another creep magnet. I wanted something that immediately conveyed that I was collared and claimed. So, there it is...

So now you're MD! :)

Based on events

It was based on a fantasy that wife had of being sent out on dates by me, and whilst there instructed.

She's awesome. Also J calls me Seela at times and it's a bit of a word play on my middle name. Lower case because my screen names always have been lower case everywhere already before I heard about any D/s connotations of it. Actually I hate it that people might see it as a nod in that direction, but whatever.

I needed a name in a hurry one day. She's hot, she's cool, she's over 40 (actually over 50), she plays bass, she wears great clothes and boots.
I'm one of those things.
But it's also a good screener - if someone knows who she is, I'm more likely to want to talk to them. (That sounds horribly snobby, but a shared taste in music, for me, tends to mean a whole lot more than just liking the same bands.)

BIGHONKINDONKEYDICKFORHOTCHICS
was taken so this was the best I could come up with...?

It's just from a work thing a long time ago. I needed a tenant to lease a spare office and made an email address with it when I advertised for it, then later I came to Lit and paired it up. Pretty unremarkable really. A convenience of circumstance. But, it's become very familiar for me when I'm online. Has many memories wrapped up in it. I can't imagine having any other.

My name was actually assigned/suggested to me by the man who introduced me to the forum and encouraged me to jump in. He doesn't visit lit anymore (although we still exchange emails - life updates and well wishes and such) and I used to feel funny posting as "topleasehim" when the him was no longer my PYL. Alas, I couldn't come up with a new name and this one feels comfortable now, like me.

It also conveys my pyl identification and does not seem to invite the random PMs from HNGs and/or guys looking to "dominate."

Yup that's my favorite part about mine too. Specifically used for that reason. 😏

Sort of related story...
When I reached 100 posts this was my avatar picture for about an hour, I changed it so soon because I'd already got two PM's hitting on me.

i'm enjoying all your origin stories. :)
(except for the acronyms, i hate looking stuff up )

So your eyes used to be blue?

Beams. Power. Bauxite. Destruction. Belgian fortress. Firestorm. Wine clink. Credits.

I had another username for a year, and it just too accurately projected my stupidity. You gotta keep that shit undercover for a while until people actually know you a little and then you fucking spring it, like a jungle cat with Bugles crazy-glued all over its body like a stegosaurus or whatever.

Jungle cat with bugles!! That made me giggle at the mental image

I thought maybe you were all LandLordy or something.

I notices that BIGHONKINDONKEYDICKFORHOTCHICS was taken as well. I wonder who has it?

You must know it's a guy with a really really little dick and he now goes by BHDD4HC

That was a good movie.

Italics are the best!

It was thrust upon me in my turgid past, 'way back in BBS days, when as a proud member of SCUM (Sonoma Country Users of Modems) I cruised the local BBS's with a variety of names. One of my more common IDs was Hypoxia [gasp!] and sometimes Su.Mi. Y'all don't like that? Su.Mi. Anyway, one board was the Smurf's Village. That's where I became Hypoxia Smurf. I'm so blue...

Smurf? But then I started reading your stories and thought why not? Blue fits.

I hope your present is a little more simple. Or at least not as turgid as your past. Or was turgid a good thing?

My Username

Represents my fetish preference... I love wearing women's lingerie especially panties and I am a submissive slut to a dominant female partner.

My gamertag evolved later, and in a slightly different fashion; tried a few, found one that fit, which even had a cool history, stuck with it.

Adi Shankara; early 8th century CE was a philosopher and theologian from India who said cool shit like this:

<snipped big pic> Shankara = bliss.

the "20" because of dumb "internet username already taken" poop....

:rose:

The references to meaningful people or ideas is pretty cool. Thanks for sharing.
