I just meant that in general people buy sex toys based on a desire that they're aware of. Working a niche in the universe of sex-toy buyers is the challenge you're both facing.Well, no, they don't know that they want what we have to sell. That's what we've been discussing. There are very few ponies in the circus because no one wants (can afford to) to put in the time and effort required to build that circus, not when the Big Tent is already full of clients.
I'll have it easier marketing directly to women, women know about sex toys-- but my big sales will come from men. They always have. When I bring my wooden dildos to shows, men buy them for their lady friends. Or maybe she goes and gets the cash from her husband.
Women WANT them-- but can't so often bring themselves to spend actual cash. I've done a lot of bartering, just to get them into the hands they should be in.
In Netz's case? I've never even thought of listening to audio sex service. it's an utterly unfamiliar product. She's going to have to educate her market.
Again women-- in my community at least-- do listen-- to home-made fiction, read aloud. They are the consumers of audio porn as I know of it, and maybe there's a hook there. If Netz wanted to listen, see what kinds of recordings women make to get themselves off, I would love to think of ways to translate that into what she does. What might be a sticking point is that 'podfic' is mostly a bit removed from the listener, being a narrated story with characters who are not the listener. Encouraging a woman to come into the story-- that might be difficult at first.
