I was reading an article on an author forum recently delving into how a writer can benefit by having their work endorsed or recommended by a celebrity or other "influencer".

Relating this to erotica, I began trying to think of what celebrities or influencers I would consider approaching to recommend my work in that genre. I came up with a few names, (such as David Duchovny and Evan Handler) but then got curious about who other writers would choose.

If you could, or would, seek out an influencer to recommend your erotica, who would you consider?

I'd love for Schwarzenegger to post about how he wished "Bound to the Blade" had been around in the early eighties, so he could have played Hew instead of Conan.

Probably someone with a large OnlyFans account who does taboo material. Jodie West from Forbidden Fruit studios would be perfect.

For my more serious work Craig Engler, the GM behind the Shudder network. Manic violence, gore, exploitation, witchcraft, and sleazy sex? I have it all.

Given I write Lesbian love stories, it would have to be these two:

I think this is a good idea. Somebody in the erotic industry who has a solid social media presence that can give you visibility. I've written two stories based loosely on the very popular OnlyFans creator Mrs. Poindexter, with her knowledge and approval. I haven't asked her to promote me actively but she's given me a shout out here and there on her page. I suppose I could ask, and I imagine it would have a positive effect if she did because she has so many followers.

Probably the best thing is to get yourself promoted by other erotic authors. The porn and written erotica worlds don't necessarily overlap. The reason for that is . . . many people simply don't read anything. Just because they like looking at videos featuring sex doesn't mean they want to read sex stories.

For this reason, I always really like it when writers acknowledge each other in their stories. It's especially useful when they add hyperlinks to the other writer's stories (as most readers are lazy). As a reader I find it really useful.
