Inner Mind

"A bad place to lurk around here, I'm afraid."

She jumped a bit, biting her lip nervously as the dark shadows faded away from her, revealing her. She glanced at him, chewing on her bottom lip.

"Hi.." was all she managed as she glanced at the man before her, then managed to glance around the room.

"Hi there."

She's nervous and more than anything I find that interesting. What have I done to make anyone nervous?

"The shadows tend to listen to me, sorry. If you'd like something else to hide behind I'm sure I can find you a nice bookcase or couch. Or you could come sit here with me."

I kick my feet up on a coffee table that's in front of the dark forest green couch I'm on. She came here for a reason I think. I wonder what it is.

She heard his reply and managed a soft sigh.

Why was she nervous? Even she didn't know that, but it still didn't stop the butterflies from fluttering in her stomach.

"The shadows tend to listen to me, sorry. If you'd like something else to hide behind I'm sure I can find you a nice bookcase or couch. Or you could come sit here with me."

She nodded at him, her black curly hair moving to one side as she saw him get comfortable. She took a few steps forward, her heels giving her curvy hips a nice sway.

She is very quiet, hesitant too. Even as timid as she is though, something in the way she moves toward me speaks to me. I want to find out more about her, explore a little.

"What brings your to my little corner of the unreal?"

I stretch a little and my neck cracks a little as I do. Its been a long day and my face is no longer the clean shaven it starts every morning as. I look at her curiously, eager to find out who has found me.

"What brings your to my little corner of the unreal?"

Couldn't help but watch him. She had been a lot of places..but here? Wasn't one of them. She liked to explore, and didn't expect him back.

"I...just..was curious really." She said softly, biting her lip softly.

She watched him stretch, hearing the crack and cringing a little.

"Curiosity is a good thing and you're more than welcome here."

I look over my shoulder out the windows at what lays beyond. An impossible maze with drop offs into nowhere and doors that lead anywhere.

"I wouldn't explore out there though. I'm not sure if its safe."

A yawn sneaks up on me.

"Not sure how much longer I'll be around tonight. Its a work night and all. You're welcome to stay as long as you like, just don't be offended if I drift off."

"Curiosity is a good thing and you're more than welcome here."

She managed a small smile, looking at him as he glanced. She knew about the territory. She wasn't afraid.

"Why wouldn't you. I like to explore? "

She saw his yawn and nodded a bit.

"It's alright. I understand you're tired."

"Alright."

I kip up out of my relaxed position on the couch. Striding across the room I offer my guest and crooked arm for her to take if she wishes.

"Shall we go a wandering?"

She saw him stand and walk and trembled a bit, but quickly realized she had nothing to be afraid of. She smiled at him, gently taking his arm and nodding.

"Sure. Where to?"

I turn to find her gone.

"She is better at hiding than I thought," I muse. Still, likely for the best. Another tired night. I lay out on the nice hardwood floor close to the fire pit. Dreams if I have them will be closing in soon. Something different for me to explore.

Strange.

I feel strange.

"I thought you vanished. Afraid I'm more tired than I thought. I hope you come back again. I would like to wander with you sometime ..."

Sleep is already upon me. It is too late.

I step out into the winds of the labyrinth and begin to explore again. Its been a good day. There were banana chips to snack on and chats to be had. Now, even this desolate maze seems to be a cheerful place. Though no brighter or cheerier in appearance, it still manages to be more welcoming somehow. Even the wind seems to whistle along with my tune as it pulls at my long coat.

Appears in his home...his mind. I wait...because i know that his house responds to his needs and I am determined that he is going to lay it down and let me cuddle him til his eyes close...

She brought me home. I step on my own a few steps and kneel down and fall over into a tangled mess of blankets and pillows near the fire.

"See. I'm not tired at all ..."

Its clear I'm fading quickly and won't be here much longer.

"Thank you, Luna."

I strip down til I get to bra and panties.

Then I plop down into the blankets beside him, slipping softly into place so that I can...wrap him up with arms and legs and body.

"Go to sleep, E. I mean it...."

A momentary silence, the drift of lips across his stubbled cheek.

"I will guard you til you fade..."

I see someone lurking in my shadows again. I've been a little lurky tonight too. Deciding she has the right idea I find shadows nearby to lurk in too.

"I am too easily lost in my own head," I muse quietly as I lurk in my own shadows. There was cute scurrying early from a shy visitor that has been here once before. I wonder if she's still here. I seem to frighten her some, but I'm not sure why.

"Are you still there?" I could strip away the shadows again and see, but I decide not to tonight. If she wants to visit I won't force her.

She was still there. She swallowed hard. She was...nervous around him for some reason. She bit her lip softly, before answering.

"I'm...still here...yes."

I feel like she could run off at any moment. To me she has barely said anything, but she has come back and that is interesting in itself.

I settle in on my favorite green couch and put my feet up on the battered wood coffee table. Last time we were about to explore when I had to leave, but tonight feels like a night to stay in. A slightly tattered book with a bookmark halfway through it sits on the arm of the couch next to me.

"You don't need to hide or be nervous. Come on up and have a seat."

She didn't understand why she was frightened, but she was. She watched him slowly, biting her lip a bit. The couch looked comfortable. She moved herself from the shadows, coming into full view, her eyes looking innocent as she walked towards him. She didn't seat and only watched him for a while.
