It's Friday! What Have You Learned?

My brother is becoming a teenager, and I wish to strangle him/lock him in a box. Incidentally, if I was half this big a pain my sincere apologies to all those who even peripherally came into contact with me during that time.

I completely disagree with this. When could be a better time?

An update....
Ive learned that whistle-blowers don't always get fired......sometimes entire companies restructure themselves because of it!:D

I have learned that simple kindness can never be over rated and it often returns in the most unexpected ways.

I learned that if you just drink soda instead of real water for like 4 days straight, your kidneys will raise up and kick your ass. Kidney pain sucks!

I learned that as much as somethings seem to change, they also stay very much the same, I think sometimes we remain locked in a pattern we cannot break free from ...so sad. :(

It's better to be honest then kind.

Why do they have to be mutually exclusive.

You can be both should you choose to do so. :rose:

Life is all about choices and how our choices impact on others.

I respect true honesty.....

I wonder does such honesty have to be done in a way which will destroy the other person.

All rhetorical questions as I have my own answers *hugs you*

(Yes I did edit this, I was on my iphone when I first posted and am not very good at typing on a bus, so I added when I got home )

When making chocolate fridge cake, make double or treble the quantities, if I want more than one piece myself!!

I agree with that 100%

This would be the case if people appreciated honesty. They do not. The truth scares and hurts most people.

I'd rather hurt someone's feelings than hide something from them or deceive them outright.

"The Truth is far too much fun!" Capt. J. Hook

Love that quote.

For whom ?

Some people get off on hurting others, at which point the truth becomes self serving.

I feel so sad for those people I truly do. :rose:

No, most people do not appreciate honesty, I agree wholeheartedly. They deserve it, in every sense of the word, but whether or not they can handle it is another matter. Most people exist in a bubble of illusion, and bury their heads or react violently when something challenges it. They feel their ego and identity at stake. That is their affair, none of mine, with one caveat: an indirect approach or a degree of either diplomacy or empathy with an individual is vastly superior to a direct, tactless, or simply brusque statement of fact without care to its ramifications. Softness enters where is no room, where as hard attack causes stiff defense, and ignorance of the intended message due to conflict clouding judgment. In warfare, direct attacks are easily repulsed, but flanking attacks have been decisive in almost every case. I take diplomacy over bluntness any day. The rewards are great.

This is just mho. :)

yawns

ILT there some people that don't know how to have fun...they have to SERIOUS all the time....yawns again

Where are all the fun people these days?

Have no fear Zydrate they should all be logging on soon *hugs you smiling*:rose:

In my opinion, Commendatore, your opinion is certainly the more popular one these days. I find that to be unfortunate.

Use whatever works for you. That's what I do. If direct is your bailiwick or preference, no reason not to use the skill, I just go another route.
