On a different note, I got hold of "The Martian" (a novel) today and tore through it this afternoon/early evening.
I can't say about the movie based on the novel, but seriously, find the book and read it!
It's entertaining, engaging, funny as hell, and so far as I can tell, the science portrayed is pretty solid (which means it's honest-to-god sci-fi, not fantasy with a tech veneer, like Star Wars).

I should guess you're an individual with a decent food processor, though I can also see the appeal of laying into 224 grams or so of nuts with a largish mallet.

It's dangerous to make assumptions about a person one barely knows.

Here's something that bothers me: Whenever someone here laments about getting dumped or being otherwise treated badly, one of the first responses is always "It's Lit, what do you expect.."

Well what does that mean? Most everyone here is an asshole? We can't expect a bit of basic decency? We should assume that everyone we post or PM with is going to lie and cheat and be a horrid person? And then be pleasantly surprised and eternally grateful if we actually do find someone nice? But always be guarded because they'll all turn into bastards and bitches eventually?

Do people just check any shred of niceness at the door when they log in or do they not have any to begin with? In which case, why are they here? Because there is lots of easy prey?

Is it weird that as I read it, I hear the words in my head being spoken with a semi-rustic, south'n accent that is strikingly similar to that of Foghorn Leghorn?
