This is part of what I was thinking about when I made the thread. I was really just wondering what women thought because I knew every answer from every guy was going to be exactly what I got. None of them have ever addressed what they would think if a guy was jacking off to them though, which is interesting because I directly referenced that in the original post. It's not equal to compare women masturbating to men and men masturbating to women because of the role gender plays in our society. What would be a lot better is to compare men masturbating to men. For example, I've known many clueless guys who don't get why women would not automatically want to be hit on whenever they're in public because they like when women hit on them no matter what. But when I say "What about if guys were hitting on you the same way they hit on women?" that changes the whole scenario for them. But it's not really a surprise when the majority of guys on this site are tone deaf. I think it's entirely understandable for women not to like it and find it objectifying and reductive but I have to admit, and maybe this is because I'm male and I don't have the necessary context, but the ones who say they're "freaked out" by it I just don't get. Like why would it freak you out? You know we all masturbate and you know we all think about something. You know we all have lust and objectify SOMEONE in a sexual way. Men, women, whatever. That's the nature of lust. Even when you do respect the person you're lusting after you are seeing them as a vehicle for your sexuality. I don't know how that could possibly NOT be objectification in at least some sense. I think the "freaked out" thing speaks to our puritanical attitudes about sex more than anything else. I understand how it would freak someone out to get an "I just jacked off to you" message without asking for one or soliciting them in general because that could easily be interpreted as an aggressive and disrespectful act but just the fact that someone has fantasized about you? I think that's completely normal and discomfort with that I think is our culture and our very backward ideas about sexuality. I know there are guys who have fantasized about me. Like I've had it confirmed. I didn't get anything out of it because I'm not into guys but I wasn't disgusted. It was just like "Okay, well... I guess whatever works." Now as a few posters have said before when it goes beyond that it can get creepy but just a fantasy and orgasming to that fantasy when it doesn't go farther than that I think is just a normal part of sexuality and being uncomfortable with it I think is just because of how we've been indoctrinated. This is why I don't support attacking porn, for example, as inherently misogynistic or sexist. There's a segment of the internet that considers porn to be anti-woman by its very nature because of the objectification thing I talked about earlier. But I think that's misguided. I think the culture is what's anti-woman and misogynistic tendencies in the porn industry are a symptom of that. Objectification is not necessarily reductive or disrespectful. Necessarily being the operative word there. When a woman wants to have sex with her husband of ten years and all she can think about in that moment is her sexual desire for him is that degrading or disrespectful? I don't think so. It is a form of objectification though.
