I think that may be part of the reason people post stories to Literotica, knowing that those stories are engaging someone else. If I write a story that should make people laugh or cry, then I feel justified as a writer when those emotions are engaged. The same is true if the story is meant to arouse someone

I agree the written word can stimulate the imagination even more than pictures or videos. The written word has created countless fantasies. It's why stories like Walter Mitty are so popular (many of my Walter Mitty adventures are X rated). It's why a movie made from a book is rarely equal to the book. It's why fuck books work so well. And yes, imagination can take you much further than just pictures or even videos. It's why, when we find a vid that doesn't measure up to our fantasy, we are frustrated. But, Silkee, there is a price for this. The story must be well written.
