One question, though. How would you send PMs when the majority of the people do not have their proper location filled out?

Would you meet a Litster purely based on their location? I would not. The people I would love/care to meet from here are the ones I "know" from talking to them (in threads/ PM's). If I like them I become interested in other (more personal) things like location.

I think as you get to know and PM back and forth with people you get a feel for where they are.

This question takes me back to the "Help a travelling foodie..." thread that I started last spring. I was about to start a series of trips around the country on business and received numerous suggestions for great places to eat. I learned about many Litsters' locations from their posts to my thread.

On that trip I did manage to catch up with a couple of Litsters who lived in cities I visited and that was a blast. I enjoyed meeting every single one of them. But in every case it was someone that I already knew from posting with them here and from occasional PMs back and forth.
