Looking for someone who has read fifty shades

The interesting thing is, I don't need my hawt sex stories to be realistic. Hell, the whole point of reading erotica, for me, is to experience things I could never (or would never) experience in real life.

But the whole concept of 50 Shades is just so cliche and overdone. As DVS pointed out, it's a stereotypical romance novel with an extra helping of naughty. Snore. I will read erotica. I won't read romance. The difference is predictability.

Never mind the BDSM inaccuracies, I couldn't get past her being a beautiful 22 year old college student who had managed to hang on to her virginity :D

I'll be 26 in January and I'm still a virgin. Just saying.

I lost mine at 19 and could have easily gone pretty much forever without caring one whit about getting intimate with somebody. #1 reason I couldn't relate to anyone my age as a teenager. What was the big deal about sex? Body parts are gross and I'd take a porn story (or some really good food) over the messiness of other people any day.

(My opinion has only slightly changed over the last 10 years. :p)

I didn't so much lose mine as shred it and throw it to the four winds-- two years too young to be legal here :) I was aggressively promiscuous, as they say-- I didn't care much about people except for their body parts, which were infinitely fascinating and a never ending delight.

Kopilot, Stella... @_@ I wish I had that kind of out look. Would have made things a lot easier for me.

Hm... Wasn't this thread about 50 Shades of whatever..? Hm... I didn't read it. From what everyone says about it, I'm so happy I didn't fall for the hype. If I were to finish the entire book, this is the only way I'd do it:

Thanks everyone for the replies here and via PM, I learned a lot about the books.

Now something else I learned is this.

I have been buying and reading some indy BDSM books on smashwords looking for accurate/inaccurate as well and found something disturbing.

Much has been made about Gray and how his is not mastery, but pretty much out right abuse and people are upset this is tied"pardon the pun" to bdsm.

Well shades os taking the brunt because of how big it became, but it is not alone.

I just attempted to read three indy books that are nothing short of rape and gang rape to boot.

Apparently BDSM is some sort of code word for "we can rape women and claim its just rough bdsm sex" the books are disgusting and it bothers me that we are on a regular basis portrayed as nothing but sexual abusers.

Yes... always has been, that's why insiders started writing our own books.

I didn't know this until recently. Anything I had read or seen on BDSM seemed more like rape and abuse. It wasn't until I met someone who was open about their private life that I actually took the time to really learn about BDSM practices. ^_^ I'm really happy I know better now.

I write the non-con-iest non-con you ever did see sometimes. Size difference has a way of removing even the tiniest ray of hope of escape for the smaller party.

But I don't write under false pretenses. The scenarios I write are fucked up, are not something you'd want in real life, are not to be equated with romance, and not to be tried at home.
