I did something similar to the fly swatter story a few days ago... About a month back I bought this full length mirror that came with two thin metal rod things with a hook at the end so you can hang it on a door, but I'm too much of a blonde to figure out how to attach the rods to the mirror with a screwdriver like you're supposed to, so I just propped it up against the wall. Well a couple days ago, I was instructed to find five household objects in my room that could potentially be used as toys. I saw the rod, slapped it against my leg, and it hurt a bit but barely made any noise (I live in a dorm). So I thought "Ooo, Tyler should like this." And he did... a lot. See, I forgot to take into consideration that he would probably hit me just a *tad* harder than I hit myself, dumb fuckhead that I am.

Would I seem stupid for saying metal rods are not usually good things to hit with and perhaps there needs to be some more safety reading added to the list?

It seems that way but it doesn't hurt any worse than a belt and unlike a belt it doesn't seem to be capable of leaving any welts. The only thing that happens is that I'll get a slight red splotch if I was hit in the same place like ten times and those take minutes to disappear completely. It's not realy a rod either, used that words cuz I don't really know what else to call it. Think of a metal ruler only about a third of the width and a square hook-thing on one end (not the end I get hit with). It stings like hell is all.

I can't resist...
Personally I have a riding crop that I have re-tipped with a doubled swatch of garment weight leather...(Just for the record I make %90 of my own toys) The new tip is approx..1 1/2 inch wide, and about 2 1/4 inches long. It achieves much the same effect ...All while still looking cool..
Oh and scary..scary is a plastic spatula.. the black one with the slots...*grin*
