Hence the reason for a thread asking zipcode. The people posting here are looking for that 4% who may be physically close enough to them to actually meet. It doesn't do much good to be in the US and find out the person you were hoping to hook up with lives in Spain or France or Japan.

My point was actually to show up the thread for what it is - an America-focussed, no-thought-for-elesewhere (as usual) collective ego-trip. Why not invite the other 96% to give their localities? In the UK we have a system called "postcodes". No need for zips or other trouser (not "pants") fasteners...
I'm not expecting an answer. The thread is par for the site...

I regularly see posts titled "All UK Posters" or something similar. What is wrong with creating a post that focuses on one group or nationality for connections? Does every single thing necessarily include everyone? Is it OK for me to go to an LGBTIA post and ask "what about heterosexuals? Why am I left out?"

I think you need zip code, not area code - If I'm not mistaken that allows folks to search since 3 digits is too short.

Well, I think the point is NOT that Americans are ethnocentric and self-absorbed. But rather, if you are looking to meet someone, you would want someone who who can meet "locally". So this particular thread is for the USA. And if you want a UK thread, or Aussie, thread, or one for Italy ... feel free to start an specific thread to meet that need. But, it's not terrible for Americans to want to have a thread to meet others in America ... now, is it?
Not at all. But the rest of the world can be forgiven though, can't we, for getting occasionally tired of this ongoing, all-pervasive 'America first' attitude?
The thread wasn't entitled "by American Zip Code'... it just assumed casually, as is quite normal for you Yanks, that the world begins in Los Angeles and ends in New York'... and "of course" everyone knows what a zip code is.
Don't worry. We're used to it. The rolled eyes just show through occasionally...
