All is well here on the left coast. A beautiful day, a nice family evening, and now its time to relax.
Aside from being gorgeous, do you have other interests, hobbies, past times, etc? Favorite authors, music, art, tv, film? Help us to know you better (without revealing any critical tidbits about your real-life identity, of course).
Lets see...
I am a musician. I play bass as my primary instrument, but I also play guitar, lap steel (hawaiian) guitar, and just about anything else that makes noise.
I have worked professionally as an audio engineer in both live and studio settings, and have a simple but high-quality recording set-up at home.
I'm also an artist, and have had my photography, ceramic sculpture, and kinetic sound-driven sculptures in a number of shows.
I'm an avid photographer. I love taking pictures of plants and flowers, and other things of interest. I've never done any studio photography, though, unless you include photography in a recording studio.
My two favorite authors are Philip K Dick and Robert Anton Wilson.
The former is best known for several of his stories that were made into films, including Blade Runner, Total Recall, Minority Report, and A Scanner Darkly. I especially love his last 5 books, of which A Scanner Darkly is the first. (The other four are: Valis, The Transmigration of Timothy Archer, The Divine Invasion, and Radio Free Albumoth.)
The latter, Wilson, is harder to pin down. His work includes both fiction, non-fiction, work for stage, music, and just about anything else he could do. I always recommend "Masks of the Illuminati" as a good place to start, but my favorite is the somewhat daunting Schroedinger's Cat Trilogy, which blends quantum physics, Joycian frivolity, parinoid conspiracy theories, and cold hard facts into a reality-melting literary tome. One of the main characters is a penis named Ulysses who, once detached from its owner, travels around the world only to find its way back home again.
Music is harder for me because my tastes are extremely broad. Modern minimalism, romantic orchestral, electronic trance, singer/songwriter, european avant garde... I will say that I've been really enjoying a new CD by a local artist, Lili de la Mora in collaboration with a fellow from the bay area, RF. The CD is called 11 Continents. I also have fallen madly in love with a singer from Norway, Hanne Hukkelberg.
Maybe I'm boring, but I love to look at Impressionist paintings. I also love photography, especially from the 40s & 50s.
I should watch less TV, but I love it. My favorite old shows are News Radio, Get Smart, and Wild Wild West. Currently, my wife and I have been watching Gray's Anatomy, and I've been enjoying Heroes.
My all-time favorite movie is Harvey. If you've not seen it, please do. It will improve your mind, heart, and spirit. I also loved a film that came out a few years ago, The Story of the Weeping Camel, and the 'sequel', The Cave of the Yellow Dog. Great movies I'd never watch again are Xiu Xiu (The Sent-Down Girl), and Last Exit to Brooklyn.
