More new pieces

Look at all of the people on here and honestly say YOU have read and rated all of their 'works of love and labor'.

See, but that's the thing. You KNEW you were posting in the wrong place. You posted here anyway. And then you had the cheek to be offended when people told you so?

That behavior strikes me as odd. I'm apparently not the only one to react that way.

If you're not happy here... then why are you here?
I post here for the same reason I posted on the poets hangout and the politics board (the content of the pieces are often social commentary those there may find interested), as well as the poets review. This is NOT the wrong place. There are actually some insightful literary threads as well. Which means there are serious authors in this board. In fact I got great feedback from them on my first Lit published piece (under this name).

Here is the thing. I am not unhappy with Lit. I am unhappy with some loudmouth arrogant egomaniac know nothings who are seriously damaging what is a great site and, behind the erotic side, a place for serious writers, erotic or not, to learn from one another, grow in their craft, and get great exposure for their work.

If they don't like that I posted this thread here, they don't have to read it. If they want to give useless, unsolicited advice, they can pm. If they want to function in the intent of the thread, they are welcome. But as with their threads, I expect the same respect for mine.

I don't jump on their threads and trample them. And yesI do actually read others work and either comment on it directly to them or rate it.

I posted here, the main poet's forum, the poet's hangout, and on the politics board. Is it how it's normally done? Probably not.

This is NOT the wrong place.

These two statements seem at odds, to me.

But maybe I’m misreading. I hope you find what you seek. I just doubt you’ll find it on this part of the site, is all.

It's called LITerotica. As in expectancy of literary seriousness and quality, or at least a serious attempt at it. You are telling me the site is now a place for porn addicted illiterates?

Feel free to read any of my work and assess its quality. As for seriousness? No. I readily admit I don’t take myself or my writing nearly as seriously as you seem to. Writing, for me, is far less like work and more like fun. One thing my catalog does show, and quite clearly, is that I understand my audience.

It’s a shame that not everyone does.

Never implied you as I haven't read your writing as of yet. But speaking generally, Brittany Spears understood her audience too: teenieboppers with no taste and pervy old men who liked seeing her slutty videos. That didn't make her a great artist, just a stripper with a microphone.

Nobody here is claiming to be “a great artist,” either… except you, perhaps? I’m not really sure quite what your purpose here is at all, truth to tell.

But my reply was meant to gently point out that I’m not going to presume to tell you anything at all about “what this site is.” Some of what’s here is good, some bad, some serious, some not. It all finds an audience. So judging it seems like something we should let the readers do, perhaps.

Rather than ourselves.

Please, Admin, lock this thread.

Up to now, despite the aggressive manner of the OP, everyone who has commented has done so in a civilised manner. If you allow this thread to continue others might not continue to be so patient and will respond to the OP in a similar vein to him. Then you’ll lock the thread anyway.

You’ve locked other threads that have become aggressive long before now.

relax, you mad bastard.

Geronimo, this turn of phrase made me laugh out loud. Am I to take it you're a fellow Brit?

Jay, I didn't really mind your original post, but then I mainly lurk on this forum. Your response on the other hand, does baffle me. However good your poems may or may not be, poetry appreciation is a pretty niche thing. To add to this, you have promoted your non-erotic poetry on an erotic writer's forum. I'm surprised that you can't see why this has put peoples noses out of joint.

This site is... or at least was founded as a place for writers using that nerdy junction where the writer's craft and erotica meet. Pretty sure everything you are saying flies in the face of its purpose. I was here back then.
And I didn't say I'm a great writer. I unapologetically say I am in pro level with my craft. I labored very hard for more than a decade to get there and it has been confirmed by truly awesome masters of the craft. What I say is that I take it seriously and am a student of anyone who can teach me something of real value, newbie or not.

You know, like writers do.

You do realize there is a non-erotic poetry category here and always has been. You think the principles if writing change because the subject is sex?

I give up. A “pro level” writer plainly has no use for anything I have to say.

Enjoy.

Wow. I challenge the status quo and suddenly my treads are the place to bitc... I mean post. So I will honor your so very serious and deep concerns with response.

First, every one of my poems have internal rhythms and rhymes
. In fact "Tomorrow's Un-Sonnet" is almost a direct answer to your statement.
.
.
Second, will someone please tell me where the Lit rule is that says I cannot post a thread promoting my work and asking for honest feedback on this board, or any other damned board is at please? That's what I thought. So "this isn't the place for this" is your bullshit way to condescend and "put in their place" those you consider lees than you because they don't do things like you have always done. "This is for authors to discuss..." real writer stuff, so run away little poet?
.
.
I have had the blessing to lead, work with, and learn from writers and performers who would eat most of those who are whining here alive.
.
Grow up.

Lol. It's not a "rule." It's just a convention, and people are trying to tell you that.
.

In England, it's called "custom & precedent".
Your shrieking and wailing avail you but little round here.
The AH is more about HOW one writes, not "a critique on wot I wrote"
[In case you don't get that one, it's from Morcombe & Wise]

This is all written with an even tone. A real writer enjoys reading and learning about their craft. They don't do status quo. They thrive in uncomfortable positions. They don't do a lot of conforming to conventions. They question, challenge, push back, and create something fresh. Maybe if you have an issue with this you have forgotten how to be an artist. And maybe it's time to relearn it from those "newbies".

But they tend not to do it quite so wildly and in the wrong place.
There are places set aside for such matters.
The AH is probably not one of them.

Good Luck with your 'poetry'.
I still prefer mine to have a certain rhythm & rhymes.

Are you kidding me. A group that have nothing to do with my thread come onto my thread and trample all over it, squash it with bs that has nothing to do with the thread, imply that poets are not real authors, and tell me to go post elsewhere because they never do it this way, but I am the aggressive one. What if I start doing that to your threads. Are you going to politely say, I'm sorry sir. I will comply to your non authority next time. Of course not. But you decided I am "just a newbie" ignorantly so, and thus deserving of disregard and rudeness. Don't you DARE put this crap on me. Y'ALL ruined MY thread!

Stop playing with the newbies.

To Jay,
Who do you want to reach with this thread, and why here? What's the advantage (except for riling things up a little, and shaking up the oldies) for having this thread here, instead of on the designated place?

can’t help it. it’s a character flaw.

None of you are in charge of anything. I have no custom to pay to you or your traditions that boil down to one mindless phrase: But we've always...
No, it wasn't always like that. And who says its the wrong place? You and your posse? Maybe site rules... Wait they don't say that. In fact, a place where "Authors Hang out" should be the perfect place for such a post if people aren't just feeding their own egos.
And you forget... YOU ALL INTRUDED on MY THREAD! You could have pmed advice. You could jave just moved on. You could have given positive related feedback. Instead you were uncouth, rude, and unprofessional. So please spare me the bs!

Wow what. The jackass just openly said he or she -dont care at this point - feels its their place to demean, cut down, and harass someone they think is a newbie. That, my friend is called bullying. One thing I hate is a bully.

dude, calm down. you’re gonna hurt yourself.

One of the lowest life forms on the planet is a bully. You are, then, one of the lowest life forms. Stay away from mu threads. I don't want you sliming them up.

Pssst.... I'M OLDER A HAND ON HERE THAN YOU ARE, ASSHOLE! FIND ANOTHER THREAD TO BE A CONDESCENDING ASS ON!

Let's dial back the venom. He's not an asshole and even if he was it wouldn't be right for you to call him one.

You didn't do anything especially wrong or worth getting worked up about by starting the thread in the AH. I think others are right, though, that it belongs in the Feedback forum, or in the Poetry forum. Poetry definitely is its own little separate corner at Literotica. I think many Literotica authors don't write or read the poetry that's posted here. I sometimes revisit my small collection of poems when I'm feeling masochistic and I want to see something that sucks.

I like poetry. I write it and I’ve posted it here, successfully. But I’m certainly not the pro-level craftsman the OP claims to be.

Nor do I particularly want to discuss it. Which is why I avoid forums where poetry is generally discussed. As in, NOT this one.
