My First Truly Negative Comment

Never Again
Where does he get this pathetic shit? I got sick of picking the corn out his verbal diarrhea on the second page and had to stop reading. Awful. Just awful.
I love the way the clown gets 5000 words in before pulling the plug. How dumb is that?

The funny thing about that story was I deliberately wrote it way over the top with the cuck humiliation that it was basically a parody, except I didn't call it that.

I wanted to see if the readership there could see that it wasn't meant to be taken seriously, or if they're so blinded by their absolute hatred of women that their little incel fingers couldn't lay off the 1's and nastinest

We obviously see it was the latter.

Adding to it is the LW crowd is known for reading other people's comments, we know this the way they attack each other in addition to the author, and several comments pointed out it was obviously meant tongue in cheek.

To each their own, but that's a category that after I did try a couple of legit stories there, I never need to waste what writing time I have on it again.

Before this year, I hadn't written fiction since college. And before now, I haven't written erotica (I guess you could call it fucktion?). Anyway, today, I got my first truly negative comment. It's on the first story I posted in January, which is the only one that is rated less than 4.5 (it's 4.46). This is the first time anyone has truly bothered to take a shit on one of my stories, and they're anonymous no less, so I kind of feel like I'm now a member of the club.

"it was just interesting enough to read the whole first part, but not enough to read other parts. i'd suggest having someone read it before posting it, not enough meat to the sotry. even for a sex one. keep trying tho!!"

I think the last bit is the funniest. It's like they're saying, "Hey, your story sucked, but keep at it and you might suck less. Maybe."

Since I only have one or two rated as high as your average, I've more than a few negative comments. Most haven't criticised my writing, but the content, which is often bdsm, or non-consent. And only one negative comment from a reader identifying herself. That's with over a million views on my stories. I'd say maybe take the anonymous comments with a grain of salt. Or maybe see if there's any validity to what they're saying. Your call. I've been awol for years, and now have several stories about to be posted, so I'll prepare myself for whatever comes. I'll read your stories and give you an honest opinion later. Keep writing. Whosonfirst
(edit), I forgot to add a good editor will really improve your writing. Sadly I lost mine, and didn't look to replace her.

Keep writing and don't let the haters get you down :D And ignore the people who're claiming that you need a "thicker skin" or that this is a "mild" criticism. You're writing for free online--the only thing you need is internet connection and 750 words, and God help us all, at the VERY LEAST, you're totally entitled to set your own barometer of mild/acceptable, and feel however YOU decide to feel about less-than-glowing feedback.

That being said, I hope that you'll take the criticism with a grain of salt; it seems, like you pointed out, that even this unenthused commenter had to acknowledge you have talent. Game recognize game.

You just gotta take it on the chin. It dribbles sometimes. We are writing stories for people to jerk off to so if they don't nut or nut before they get to the ending then they get a bit negative. Maybe he nut after the first chapter and thought no point in reading the others.

... And ignore the people who're claiming that you need a "thicker skin" or that this is a "mild" criticism...

of which both sayings refer to "not taking something personally." I truly detest using emoji's nowadays, but...

I've had story comments that OTHER people flagged and were in turn taken down by the admin. I leave all comments directed at me, or my stories; alone. Honestly, this criticism is mild in comparison.

Noooooooo, it’s was a friendly reminder to feel however you feel and a bit of encouragement... a bit hard to tell that, since you picked away at the meat of my comment trying to make your point, but whatev. If your distaste for that encouragement and need to dismiss it reduced you to using a “detestable” eye-roll emoji, then I feel very sorry for you. I’d offer you the same encouragement—that even if you hadn’t received the worst, most offensive comment ever posted in the history of comments (cause yeah, I can “top that” and there’s probably some other writer who can top me)—it’s not a comparison competition, and you can feel how you feel, but try to remember that you’re talented and keep writing—but I’d be worried your emoji eyes would get stuck that way.

emojis are only detestable because people don't know how to read and understand each other nowadays without their use. Yeah, I know it's not a competition, and others might have gotten worse than me, but what is she going to be like when/if she starts getting the worse ones?

No, I don't need encouragement, thanks anyways. I like to sink or swim by my own means

Readers who give a crap will give feed back. Many on here are learning to write and use those comments to improve their work. Look over your story and be objective. I wish I had more comments with feedback but I've been writing a long time. I posted an older version of one story n someone commented on the mistake in it. They said they loved the story but be consistent. The devil is in the details! Lol

Josephine, you rock.

"it was just interesting enough to read the whole first part, but not enough to read other parts. i'd suggest having someone read it before posting it, not enough meat to the sotry. even for a sex one. keep trying tho!!"

I had to check. You kept the quote.

The irony, of course, that as a critic, he's not exactly a shining light of good form. He (I'm assuming a "he") couldn't write a paragraph without remembering to use his shift key, proper punctuation, or that whole spelling thing.

Of course, this was your first story here –*and you've probably run into worse since then –*but I wanted to sprinkle a little encouragement to keep going and congratulations that you have. Your ratings speak for themselves and Literotica is lucky to have a content provider like you.

Well done.
