New Moderator -- Crappy Start

. . . That brings up another thing, that we used to have a thread "Search" function here where we could search for a thread. . .

I have no idea where it was before, but there is a Search function in the upper right-hand corner of this page, where it says:

[ Thread Tools ] [Search this Thread] [Display Modes]

The search function is the one in the middle.

I guess things are easier to find when you don't expect to find them in any particulare place.

I don't see that

I think it depends on the skin you are using?
I have had problems with some of the skins causing other problems, so, settled on this one, bluesaint3-liquid.
Maybe that's mt problem?

Nope!

The ‘Search this Thread’ control is on all the skins except for the Mobile and Wireless Devices skin. Then it is the ‘Search’ function controls in your Control Panel.

One other thing that I just learned through the experiment of trying every skin listed. . .

I now know what they meant by the old slang term, “in a bad skin.”

PS To the ones that thought that a 'welcome' or 'polite PM' was in order. Get your priorities right. It is the new Mod's responsibility to say "Hello, I'm here and here's how I will be running this place. What do you think?" But, no, we get someone who hides behind an alt and immediately starts treating the board is his/her personal fief. Contrast all this to how other new Mods (Pure or LadyC) recently started their tenure and how much of a warm welcome they got. You get what you give.

You do know that the Moderators get nothing for doing the job they do don't you?
But they do get abuse and nasty PMs. What a thankless job.

I think it is not only for feedback on a story, but for people asking for feedback on a story. And, what better way than to post a new story on the "New Story Advertisements" thread? And what better place for that thread than the "Story Feedback" forum?

I have asked for feedback on one or two specific stories here, and got some good feedback and ideas for the next stories. But, if I just have a new story released, want people to read it, and am not asking for specific feedback, for whatever reason, then that thread is the place to put it. I have read many other stories that are posted there by other authors. I feel it is supporting the authors here in the forums, the ones who want other forum members to check out their stories.

I don't know HOW they managed to hide that thread from just ME! :)
That brings up another thing, that we used to have a thread "Search" function here where we could search for a thread. It's gone now!!?? Not everything new is better.

Well, thanks for explaining yourself. :rose: No more complaining from me.
Got to go read some stuff now.
I think I'll go read the feedback on the "Nipple" stories! ;) :p :D

If you ask for feedback for a story you have completed then there is nothing wrong with posting solicitation here for that story.

For stories that are not completed, I feel that the appropriate forum is the Story Discussion Circle.

As far as the search function goes, did you click on "advanced search" under the field where you type in for the search? You can select keywords that may help you find what you're looking for.

Since the Story Feedback and Story Discussion Circle are closely related, maybe Laurel and Manu will combine the two forums.

As far as the complaining goes, I'm not offended.

I've been around a few years and this is an absolute low for start by a Mod.

Anonymity so that you will avoid the appearance of favoritism? That's crap. I think the forum is entitled to know the history and slant of the one who plays the impartial judge. KM never hid behind an alias. Pure over at the SDC doesn't. Ditto for LadyCibelle at the Editors' forum or catalina_francisco at the BDSM board.

There's not enough bandwidth to explain? More crap. What rule did the moved threads break? In fact, if you ask the regulars here, you'll get an overwhelming response that the Adverstisement thread couldn't be a better contribution to this forum. You seem to be so out of touch with the environment here that I wonder...

And besides, tell me again why the forum needs a moderator after all? Or, perpahs you'll say that you are just doing what Laurel asked you to do, right?

Hiddenself, I've been around a few years also. I remember Lit when it had less than 200 stories. As far as the Anonymity goes it isn't crap. We're all anonymous here. None of us register with our real names. Any moniker we come up with is an alias. If you feel that my actions of moving a couple of threads is an "an absolute low" for a moderator, then you may have expectations that can't be met.

As far as me not introducing myself, I could have done that. But I chose not to. Even if I did, it would not have changed any of the negative remarks I've received so far. I've already discussed why I moved the threads. I'm not going to go into a lengthy discussion of why each thread was moved.

The forum needs a Moderator for the few pieces of spam it receives and the few threads that aren't in keeping with this forum. Like I said, if I was too literal in the intentions of the separate forums then I apologize.

I know this forum isn't my personal fief and I have no plans of establishing a sticky where all will pledge allegiance to my Moderator status before they post in it. ;)

As far as how I'll be "running" the place goes, it'll be in keeping with what Laurel and Manu have intended as to the design of the forum.

I'm confused. If you feel that way, which would make sense considering the context of this board, then why did you remove the New Story Advertisements thread?
