Thank you, nusubgurl. I think I've learned quite a bit from your posts. Some of the things you described I've tried, I just didn't know what the name for that type of play. I've tried fireplay with a bonfire on camping trips not flash cotton. Now that I know what it's called, I can look for it at the supply store (sort of a magicians supply shop).

I think I'd be far, far too chicken to allow anything on fire or very hot near me. I'm one of those people who says 'ow' when I hit my toe against the stairs, even if it's in a shoe and it didn't really hurt.

Yeah, I'm the same way Jadefirefly, but that toe stubbing doesn't include any sensual expression. Which to me at least makes all the difference, you know?

Devil's Fire is a form of fire play, where steel probes (similar to dissection needles used in your biology class) are heated and very quickly touched to bare skin, resulting in a single cell being "popped" by the heat. This is done about six times very quickly over an area of skin and then the needle is re heated and the whole thing repeated. The needle is not particularly sharp, as piercing the skin is not the objective, although you will feel a "pricking" sensation. I now have a batch of flash cotton. It's time to experiment with it on inanimate objects to get a feel for the burn time. Then onto practicing on myself with it before I even think about using it on someone else.
I also found out, if it is stored in the freezer, it will burn slower than normal.

If it burns slower the heat has more time to penetrate the skin and may cause burns. If it burns fast, the heat is not absorbed as much. Then all you get is a warm feeling and a good flash of fire.

After practicing with flash cotton, I've learned to thin it out as much as possible. I had it too thick and burned my hand. Not bad,just a scorch mark, but enough to make me glad I'm practicing on myself. It's fun stuff.
