Again, why ask a question like AsylumSeeker asked here if what you want is the opinion of someone who knows some one who remembers sort of what their 10th grade English teacher might have said about some other topic altogether?

Why? Because generally there is someone here that knows the answer, or at least where to find it, and without the hubris you exhibit.

Ohhhhhhhh I like it when you speak French....:D...

Just kidding!

Shit, are you really Gomez Addams???

What I like about "liberties" in writing, is perhaps how they contribute to the evolution of the language. Perhaps it's my lack of training/discipline not to be too bothered by them.

If language didn't evolve, save for Billy Graham's invocations at the Super Bowl, we'd still be thanking God for "thine graces thou hast bestowed upon us".

Goofy as they may sound now, I like making up words, even in narration. I'd feel like I was cheating if I simply introduced a character that "liked to make up words". And so I strongly defend (to whom I'm not sure), my contributions of "gorgalicious", "noobophyte", and "gilloolied", the last being when someone takes a steel pipe to your knee, which, interestingly, I do use properly in a sentence in a story I'm writing now.

by the way just who was e e cummings editor and why did he get a free pass

This thread also underscored "Pussy Power". Can't ever underestimate it!

I gave a straightforward answer to the question from the beginning.

I said the safest source to use for rendering of words in writing in the humanities was specifically the latest edition of the Merriam-Webster's Collegiate Dictionary, the dictionary of choice by most in the U.S. publishing industry.

And a few times you suggested writers should be following dictionary sources rather than taking the advice offered elsewehre.

Which can only mean that if we rigidly followed dictionaries, there would never be any changes for them to incorporate.

I can understand the dynamics of the giggly "ladies" club here ....-that's the bread and butter of chat boards.

A tad sexist, what?

I'm totally disappointed the 'Giggly Ladies Club' never used "'K?" in their conversations. Come on, please? I need a cheap thrill tonight.

Just stop quoting the moron, please. :rose:

Strange that some people cannot quite grasp that Lit is a playground.

For many of us it is a release - it's fun. We have real jobs, families, lives, and we come to Lit to play around with our friends.

If I choose to giggle, asswipe, then I shall giggle. I do not need your permission, nor your approval, to do whatever the hell I wish.

To be constantly ridiculed by a pedantic fool because we choose to enjoy ourselves here is nothing short of amazing.

Go home, little man. Take your dictionary and fuck off.

He won't rise to the challenge, Cloudy; all he's good for is mud-slinging and name-calling. He's lost and he knows it. He's been beaten at his own game by people more intelligent than him; that's what's burning him so much.

I know he won't, but it will be interesting to see him try to backpedal. :D

My, my, you think so highly of yourself. Very interesting. Burst the bubbles? :D Hardly. You were amusing, now you're just annoying.

The general consensus of posters is that you are compensating for a very tiny dick.

I've met in person dozens of Literotica members - they know me. They know my career, what I do, what I've done. I don't give a rat's ass about you or what you think.

As to my history, yes, I stopped writing for a long while. I had to. You don't know the details, it's none of your business and I certainly don't owe you an explanation.

All you've done on these threads lately is boast about yourself and insult as many people as possible while boasting about yourself.

Even if you were serious about sharing some of your amazing wisdom with the less-educated, I don't believe anyone would listen because you've acted like such a jerk.

You've been very annoying, especially as you attacked me first on the other thread without provocation. I wasn't talking to you, about you, and you jumped all over me, then tried to tell me it was my fault.

Even when I quoted the separate posts for you to see, you still tried to argue your way out of it.

Delusional. Quite delusional. And a waste of my time.

Back on ignore. And please everyone, stop quoting him??? Or at least put up a spoiler.

Life's far too short to have to read the ramblings of a misguided pissant.

Sorry. Just looking for my cheap thrill for the evening. Perhaps I'll do a search for 'K and see if it shows up in any Lit stories. I swear, I don't want to have to write the story myself, although, if I do, I already know I'm going to like the character who says it.

Funny thing is, last night I posted that it was my understanding dictionaries were all written by Right Wing Facists, intent on taking over the world, and that the first step for them was comandeering our language.
Two hours later I edited my post, thinking it was too confrontational for Mr. sr71ptl. Guess I should have left it up, since the sr71ptl dude(?) is all about confrontation. (I wonder if sr71ptl is actually Scouries/Scribbler in disguise?)

He insists not. It's irrelevant, anyway.

But I love the part about Right Wing Fascists.

:D
