OOC: Summertime Sublet

Okay, so we'll run with the love triangle and see how far that goes. At some point people gotta start hooking up, right?

I do kinda like the day by day thing, Sexy. What's ur girl's name gonna be?

at some point. you gotta imagine with 3 different lives, people have gf's, bf's...they're in college. their roommates won't be the center of their attention. at least not at first.

That's a very good point, uh, Ella. ;)

I definitely like the idea of someone in the group having a significant other, but maybe they're not around? Either went home for the summer or is off backpacking europe for the summer.

Or of someone starting a relationship with someone they shouldn't be with...

A married professor could be interesting.

My character's name will be Becca

I'm getting the feeling i'll be writing for more than one male character here... Which is not a problem at all!

Married professor would be interesting. I'm kinda thinking a good friend's boyfriend/girlfriend would be better though.

I like that even more!!!!! Drama yay! Hahah.

I'll write for more female characters, too, if needed. if ur character wants to have a thing on the side or a gf...whatever's needed. all of us are pretty capable writers in thsi area.

I seriously love your latter idea, though. sexy.

It's true, we're all pretty damn good at this, and at handling multiple characters.

Maybe each one of us gets into some kind of illicit affair, and then we're all there for each other when things go inevitably go sour?

I think thats a good idea, as part of the build up as well as a bonding type thing. Before anything has happened or real juiciness has started to go between the 3 of them, at least 1-2 are complaining about the end of their failed affairs.

We're definitely onto something here. I'm liking it more and more.

What other trouble should we get ourselves into?

I think we should leave a little to see as we go!! ;) surprises are nice

But we should figure out the main thread details like ages and college and majors so we can start out the thread, I think. What kind of place they're staying in and how they all got there?

If I'm writing a conservative christian girl, is she going to have relationship at start of summer? I'm open to any suggestions about her story coming in.

Becca: how about you've got a boyfriend, whom Daddy approves of, and you two have a nice, sweet, innocent, chaste relationship where there's never any funny business. Unfortunately, at some point in the thread, it will be revealed that he's been sleeping around on you, even during the school year when he was around. Of course, you don't find this out til after you've gotten in deep with a local Bad Boy ;) and gave up your virginity.

We should definitely do full character write-ups and get started!

Messy is good.

Jake: 21 years old, varsity soccer player, closet NERD! 6'2", athletic build, short curly brown hair, brown eyes, nice tan. Mostly succeeds at playing the jock. Spends his free alone time fully absorbed in Dungeons and Dragons. Is kinda bummed that his regular group is all gone home for the summer, and so he can't play. Well, everyone from the group is gone except for Sarah, who is the smoking-hot girlfriend of the group's Dungeon Master, Bryan. Jake's been screwing Sarah for a few months now, behind Bryan's back. He's such a big D&D geek, he even has a blog about it.

Major: Chemistry. Real focus: computer software engineering.

At the last minute, Jake was offered the job of helping run the University's youth summer soccer camps that would be going through the summer. It pays decent and he gets to play soccer all day long. Life Is good. Oh, and Sarah is in town too. Double bonus. She's staying in town because she's actually a local, and her parents live in town.

Becca 20, turning 21 over the summer.

Elementary education major, active participant of the school's campus ministry, gospel choir and leader of the women's bible study group. 5'7 blonde hair blue eyes, toned body, 35d, but generally hidden well with her conservative style choices.

Becca's boyfriend of 4 years, since they met at a bible camp in high school and her were a perfect match, both virgins who had agreed to wait until they were married. They didn't need drugs or alcohol to have a good time, dinner and a movie were sufficient for them.

She was spending the summer on campus, a last minute decision when she was offered the position of theology department student secretary. A job that paid well and allowed her to use the majority of her time do to what she pleased, as long as she answered the phone and took care of any pressing matters.

Her boyfriend Dylan would be returning to their small town to help lead the camp they had met at summers ago, and return to his duties on parish counsel at their church.

Messy is hot. Lemme know what you guys think of this! Of course we want to create our own characters but we wanna make sure they'll mesh (and fight) well ;)

Ella: Just turned 21 in May.

Volleyball player, runs the drama club and the creative writing group, and actively participates in many different social groups and activities on campus. Is on the board for the LGBT committee as an "ally". She's a double major with English & Literature Major and Business and a minor in Women's Studies. Although she was obviously very intelligent, Ella tended to downplay it and act a bit like a typical hot college chick.

With her red hair and big pretty eyes, her petite frame (at 5'2 and a tight little toned body), she was definitely the talk of many guy's college dorm rooms and locker room fantasies. But that was mostly what they were= fantasies. Somewhat like the movie Easy A, Ella was perfectly fine with any guys talking about what they'd done with her or wanted to do with her. She just hadn't done most of them. Most of them being the key word. She went through phases where she did get around a little bit, but she definitely wouldn't classify herself as a slut. She did, however, know she'd slept with quite a few taken guys, and some of them were even her fellow classmate's boyfriends. She never really cared, as she didn't pursue them.

Ella had just broken up with her boyfriend as break was nearing and was looking forward to having a single summer. She herself would be staying in town because she'd been asked not only to help with the Teen Volleyball classes they had at the University over summer, but she'd also been hired at the local outdoor pool to be a head lifeguard. (Yep. To be "in charge" over all the lifeguards, who were mostly yummy guys.) She just needed a place to stay...

I think these characters are going to work really well together, especially at causing drama.

Now, onto some other technical issues.

Setting. I was thinking lets place them at the University of Missouri-Columbia. Huge school, so perfectly reasonable that they would all have gone there for a couple years and not know each other. Though maybe they've seen each other at parties or just around? Who knows. Columbia is a typical, middle of nowhere college town, that's pretty dead during the summer compared to when school is in session. It also has the added bonus of being in Missouri, which means it'll be really hot and humid all summer long, so plenty of reasons for people to be wearing next to nothing! (Which will force Becca to be a bit less modest than she'd probably like, it's just so darn hot out!)

Can we make Ella's pool be outdoor? Just because it'll be blazing hot?

A lot of the houses in Columbia near school are pretty beat up- typical student housing. So probably intermittent air conditioning at best, crappy furniture, creaky floors, stained carpets. Just cheap summer housing. A number of problems could probably arise just the threw of them dealing with issues with the house!

Sounds really good, and yeah, I'll edit about Ella's pool.

Btw, st_fornicate, I thought you'd like to know: I know a lot about Mizzou cause I actually applied and got accepted there this year, trololol. so expensive, though.

Ha! I actually went there for a year. Not so bad when you're a resident.

Do we need to start making up our minor supporting characters, as well?

I don;'t think we need to do much work on it. Though I thought you should probably do Bryan and if you want...I'd create Sarah...or you could

As for the bf of Becca, I don't know how much we really are going to have him in the story.

Do you think we should just leave the minor supporting characters to develop?

I think we talked about Becca's bf having cheated on her with Ella, but he'll be in there just a little bit I think. Maybe he could come to visit and she comes home from work early to find him and Ella fucking in her bed?...just and idea.
