i have to agree with LarkSparrow and add:

the first time i was well and truly flogged at a playparty, a thick leather paddling strip was used across my back... i dont bruise easily, but this hurt like hell..... left big red marks... those faded, but my point is that everything that hit me after that, in the same place the strip hit me, turned an ugly purplish reddish color..... like a bad bruise or a hickey....
it went away in less than a week... kinda upset me because i enjoyed being marked by the guy who flogged me... but anyway, no adverse damage, nothing permanent...

i am told to try rubbing toothpaste on it (?)
also, im told it stops doing that after a while, something about the body getting used to the abuse.
