Many of the people that post on the political board, ONLY post there. So it contributes absolutely nothing and I feel most of us would prefer not being on a page with fascists. This site is mostly welcoming and understanding, why have a divisive board? Please get rid of it. Politics has nothing to do with what this site is about.

Go through and ignore the authors, their threads won’t show up and you don’t have to even look at their idiotic titles. I just finished doing that.

If you read some of the posts these guys (and they are always guys) make, you would worry about anyone who has contact with them.

I'm a free speech supporter but it gets very murky when anonymity emboldens people to call for violence and do so without any consequences. I started a single thread there where I basically asked "Why do some people fetishize assault weapons" and I ended up being threatened. So yeah, I'd be fine if it was closed.

This place has been much better since it got the politics board. The PB has been here for maybe a year or two(?). Before that, the other boards (general board had it worst) were unreadable because of all the politics. The politics board shovels it all to one place where you can ignore it or participate or whatever. The other boards have become relatively politics free and much more civilized.

I don't see a way to ignore an entire subforum though, in the sense of automatically filtering it out of the new posts feed and so on.
