Profile won't update with the discription in my Options...

@ragal2 you can just check my profile and clearly see there's no profile image in it despite it showing up right next to my name as I post here.

I'm still displaying the same profile I had as of yesterday. So over twenty hours at least.

My profile still has not updated from two days ago with any of my new changes and my profile image is not appearing in the profile yet. I really wish this would get sorted out, I keep getting dozens of messages about the link in my profile which I wanted to remove, but now seems stuck there permanently.

Hate to sound like I'm beating a dead horse, but just checked again. Six hours later almost, and the profile is still stuck at the original. It has not updated in over full 24-hours and making any further changes results in zero differences on my author profile page. It literally seems stuck/uneditable.

I think I have the profile in a (theoretical) state that I would like to use it in. I just need it to actually, you know, apply the changes. I'd especially like my profile image to finally appear in the profile like it does here in the chat.

In case it helps, I cannot see any link on your profile but I do see your image against all your posts and also when I look at your profile. Itā€™s a very nice image btw šŸ˜

Just to clarify, I was looking from within the Forums, I now see the issue you are having on your profile in the story section

You see the image in my profile?

I've repeatedly refreshed the author page for my profile and it doesn't appear in there. Just shows exactly the same as it was yesterday. Several people have messaged me about the link being dead (last one was about an hour ago), so I assumed it was still there. Now I don't even know.

Here on the forums I see it but it doesnā€™t show up on your authors page. Maybe it just takes longer there? šŸ¤·šŸ»ā€ā™‚ļø

That's what the issue is. It's been over 24-hours and nothing has changed on my author page. It seems stuck. I deleted the link, updated a sentence or two, and uploaded the profile image. It appears here, so I know the image was approved by the admins.

However, I'm mostly in the chat, so I want people to be able to see the image in the profile since most all chatters almost never use the forums anyway. That's my question, as to what the heck is going on with my profile not updating for so long. The updates used to be immediate.

OK, I guess I've firgured it out (kind of):

The old profile link here has updated correctly: https://forum.literotica.com/members/marriedmilf.6804237/

The author page seems broken, and unable to update. But chatters are directed to the author page when they click "view profile" and NOT the old profile page. So they still only see the old info from two days ago. The author page just will not update like the member profile link already has.

Married, if it makes you feel any better, my profile seems frozen in limbo too. I made some changes about four days ago, and NONE of them have appeared on the author page. Period. Just unable to change a single thing.

My profile is pretty useless to me as of right now. I'd like it fixed too, but I guess patience is a virtue. Like was said once or twice before... We don't really know if/what the admins are doing to address it as they don't really reply to bug reports or get back to people about what's being fixed or not. It's out of our hands. Just have to cross our fingers someone is working on it and try to be patient. I'm sorry everyone is spamming you about the dead link in your author profile. Must be annyoing.

Day three now, profile image and profile still have not updated on my author page. I think I literally CANNOT update my profile anymore. Like... I got one free edit after I joined but after that, all others have pretty much been null and void. Oh well. Maybe a new account would work better? But I see above that others with this issue have tried other accounts and still had it, so I dunno. Maybe just give up on the author profile for now (which sucks because I really want to use it, but what other option is there?). The lack of feedback on this issue is aggravating though. They must know about it by now.

Looks like both your profiles are now up to date. Fingers crossed it is all working for you.

Just a heads up. Changes usually take a minimum of a week to push through - which is very annoying but something a notification could at least inform people about so they wouldn't be so frustrated. If only they would implement it.

I hope that helps!

It seemed to be updating normally again for the last two days. But now is back to not updating again. I put in a change three hours ago and it hasn't appeared on my profile yet. It seems whatever happened the last few days to make it work, was a temporary thing.

Oh well.

Didn't the updates used to be immediate prior to the author profile updates? If the site admins have decided to move to a new process of "approving" updates or we are supposed to expect it to take this long (IE it's not a technical issue with the site, it is intended to be this way), then yes, some communication about that would be nice.

Otherwise, I assume that this isn't how it's supposed to be and it's supposed to work mostly like it did prior to the author page changes. I was under the assumption that the move to the author profiles was intended to be more of a facelift/cosmetic change to make the site look nice and more polished but not change the way profiles functioned.

A bug with the site is a form of technical issue since it is an issue with the technology that runs the site.

Fixing bugs is a form of technical support provided by whomever fixes it.

From the VERY link you posted:

"There are several ways you can report bugs or issues with the site:

  1. Use our online bug report form.
  2. Go to the footer of the page where you see an error and click on the ā€œReport a Problemā€ link to open a form that will allow you to easily report an issue with that specific page.
  3. Contact us via our Contact Form or Email and send us details about the issue.
  4. Get help from the community by posting your question or report in the Literotica Tech Support Forum."
With emphasis on number four, they seem to imply that you can use this forum to discuss bugs with the site right here, which is what we are doing. I don't see the issue?

Also, you are assuming no bug reports have been filed for this issue and implying that's why it hasn't been fixed. How do you know? In fact, one person here already said they submitted a report, and I'll add that I did too. Maybe others as well. Who knows?

Get help from the community by posting your question or report in the Literotica Tech Support Forum."
Sure, to the extent that the community can help, posting here could be good.

But the community can't help with this issue, and this isn't a bug report. There's no telling whether Laurel or Manu will learn of this if a proper bug report isn't submitted according to the other three separate instructions about how to inform them of the bug.

Don't take it personally. I'm not singling you out or treating you like an idiot for not reporting. I have no way to know if you did or not. But it benefits everyone to know how to report it rather than how to ask people who don't run the site for help with how the site's running, so, that's all I aim to do - to inform people about that.

Your post just happened to be a segue onto that topic. I'm not shaking my fist at you.

I literally just said I DID make a report in my last post about this bug and you say you do not know if I made a report? Interesting. Also, another person mentioned filing a report earlier in this thread. So reports have been filed.

Also, it says you can use this forum to discuss reports. That means this forum is a place where we are allowed to discuss bugs. If the admins ever finally see or act on a report about this issue, for instance, then this thread is very useful. It will tell them that several people are having this issue and it's not just isolated to the one or two people who filed a report. When fixing technical issues, knowing how widespread they are (IE how many people are experiencing it), is extremely valuable data. It can put more urgency into implementing a solution if they see many people are experiencing the same problem.

It is quite possible that the OP, Buxom, filed a report and then came here to discuss her issue/report which is EXACTLY what it says in the "how to report a bug" link, that this forum is for. Still not seeing a problem with this thread.

I literally just said I DID make a report in my last post about this bug and you say you do not know if I made a report?
I didn't know it when I made my FIRST post. In my second one, I didn't say anything one way or the other about whether anyone had made any. You're getting mad over things I didn't do or say.

I didn't say there was a problem with the thread, or you, or anyone else in it.

I said "there's this other thing which can be done, if you want to be sure the site operators are informed."

I'm not mad at all. I'm just responding to this.

1. A report may have been submitted already before this thread was created, and this thread is to discuss it.
2. From the link you shared, the admins seem to imply that if you encounter an issue or bug with the site, one way to notify them is to post about it here.

No, it doesn't guarantee they'll see it. But neither does a bug report. We don't know if/when/how often the admins even look at bug reports.

I think Buxom was just expressing frustration over the fact that the admins don't really tell us if they're responding to bug reports or looking into the issues we report and we are kind of just left in the dark as to whether anything is being done. In the world of customer service, not telling a customer that you were investigating an issue they had, would be bad form and possibly get you in trouble too.

I have been trying to update my profile for three days straight. In the "Options" setting it will save the new changes I make and appear to have applied. But then when I actually go to the new "Author" profile for my account, nothing changes. I am unable to change it at all or save any changes. This has been ongoing for three days now. Nothing has worked.

About half a dozen people have told me from various portions of Lit that my profile is the same even right after updating it. It's really annoying as I have been trying to update the links in it and now just get tons of messages from people just to tell me my links won't work.
Mine was just fixed!!

We aren't the customers, of course. In the world of web content for profit, readers and writers are products. It's the advertisers who are customers.

I think Laurel actually does care about us, but we aren't customers.
