The assumption that it's an actual in-use or even out-of-service but still owned piece of public transit is the least likely scenario. More trouble than it's worth when they can find one that's for rent, or buy one for peanuts, film 1000 vids in it, and sell the thing six months later. Especially if it's an actual porn company and not some independent OF girl.

"Porn in Public" is inherently uncomfortable not so much for the exhibitionism as for the issue of consent. In the case of the "woman groped on the train" videos, I assume they're all fiction, but they typically depict a young woman who is subjected to groping, or more, without her express consent, but usually with her acquiescence and enjoyment. It's icky for many, but the element of discomfort is part of what makes it erotic for some.

There's also the element of consent with the public audience in the background. Is it morally acceptable to perform in an erotic way in public without obtaining the consent of people around one? Probably most people have their own personal sliding scale: it's OK to do some things, but not others.

In fiction, we can dodge these issues, because no real people are affected. But with video, then there is always the reality, or at least the risk, of people in public seeing things that offend them and that they did not consent to see. What are the moral duties of the creators of this type of porn? I don't have a clear answer, but it's an interesting question.

The owner told me this story, corroborated by others. The bare bones of the story are true, although perhaps some elements of it were exaggerated in the retelling to me.

The garage had a nice looking VW beetle in the shop for extended repairs. It was in the front of the shop and a passerby notices and comments on the car, nice condition, etc.

He asks the shop owner: Do you think it would be possible for us to do a porn shoot in the back of that car?

Owner rolls eyes, now he's heard everything.

What's in it for me? (I can hear him saying this.)

No money, but you get to watch.

Owner, not quite believing what he's hearing, shakes his head yes.

The crew and actors come in over the weekend when the shop is closed, set up for a shoot (small crew, so semi-professional). Owner invites the other shop employees to come along, a couple do (hence my verification.)

They do a shoot, using the car as a prop, and manage an extended fuck in the back seat of the car (hard to imagine, not much room back there.) Two guys end up ejaculating on the woman's chest while she's kneeling next to the car.

I was told that 1. "You wouldn't believe the size of the pricks on those guys!" and 2. "they stayed hard unbelievably long." I'll spare you the comments on the woman.

I've met someone who owns some vintage cars and fixed them up. He makes money renting them to movie companies just to be seen driving in the background of outdoor shots in period movies.

Getting a train is a little more difficult. For the 1967 movie The Incident, a train interior was built in a studio based on the original blueprints. Of course, it probably was mostly lumber, not steel, but it looked perfect. Some old subway cars wind up in private hands in various countries and it might be possible to rent one. In those days, it was hard to get filming permits, but Mayor Lindsay changed all of that,

The New York Transit Authority is very helpful to film crews nowadays, as in Joker which has scenes in real stations. They'll also give you any kind of car you want from the museum fleet. Pure porn would probably get a no-no however.

As well as the ethical issue of involving non-consenting bystanders in one's sex life, there's a pragmatic reason for faking this stuff.

How are people going to respond to having an unexpected sex scene play out in front of them? Anything is possible. Calling the cops, punching out the actor, dudes whipping out their non-STI-tested junk and trying to join in, crowding in and blocking the camera angles, whatever. And if somebody wants to fuck up the shoot on purpose, they can pull out a phone and start playing Disney tunes, because releasing a porn video with "Let It Go" on the soundtrack is a legally unwise thing to do.

What film director wants to deal with that kind of bullshit? Time is money and porn is a business. It has to be cheaper to find willing extras for this kind of thing than to have to reshoot because somebody jostled the camera during the money shot.

Transit agencies let them go and they get bought by others without any redesign of the interior or exterior, maybe with the exception of removing the agency’s branding. You can totally find a bus to rent which has those “public transit” seats and those yellow bars and mobility assist bars and those vertical hold-on pipes.

There are businesses who have whole fleets of these to rent to movie productions, and they would not turn down a porn studio as a client.

Possibly a higher than ordinary cleaning deposit, but possibly not even that.

Loads of places you can hire buses or old train carriages for a day. And if you can hire it, someone will have staged porn in it.

When I was a student, a certain student theatre would do anything to save or raise money. One day, a couple lads asked the manager if they could book the stage to use as a 'choreography rehearsal space', late morning. Given it wasn't being used for anything else until set-up for the evening show, the manager happily pocketed £50 (about £100 or more now).

Guys turned up, were let into the auditorium. Turned out their idea of 'choreography' was simply fucking in the middle of the empty stage, as someone working on set-building found out when they popped up to the auditorium. Manager's reaction was to ask for another £50 for cleaning costs, and leave them to it (and not just because more than two people in a room with gay sex happening was illegal at the time...)

Last year, got an email asking if we'd been using the AirBnB we'd hired to film porn. Spouse replied that chance would have been a fine thing!
