Quote of the Day!

A creative man is motivated by the desire to achieve, not by the desire to beat others.

Be gentle to all and stern with yourself.

Be miserable. Or motivate yourself. Whatever has to be done, it's always your choice.

People are always blaming their circumstances for what they are.
I don't believe in circumstances.
The people who get on in this world are the people who get up
and look for the circumstances they want, and, if they can't find them, make them.

I really like that quote, Yeishia. A similar thought to that has often been the one thing that gets me through the days of late.

The quote is in the video. I just figured no one could say it like Charlton Heston. ^^

I enjoyed the movie snipit I might steal it for my Eclectic Thread , thank you so much .:rose:

I am assuming the quote from the movie you were referring to is

"Does Man...Still Make War against His Brother?"

I tried to search to no avail for who actually wrote it and for the full quote :(

You gain strength, courage, and confidence by every experience in which you really stop to look fear in the face.

A life without purpose is a languid, drifting thing;
Every day we ought to review our purpose, saying to ourselves:
This day let me make a sound beginning, for what we have hitherto done is naught!

I tend to start with... 'Seen from out here, everything seems different....' And end with '...keep his neighbors children starving?'

original Planet of the Apes ftw. :)

Also, in the movie, that is the whole scene. That is literally the very beginning of the movie. When he wakes from sleep they are crashing onto a planet. I don't know who wrote the script, but if you attribute the quote to 'George Taylor, Planet of the Apes' That is his characters name.

If the bus came, would I still be standing here?

Ask not for victory, ask for courage.
For if you can endure you bring honor to us all,
even more, you bring honor to yourself.

The direst foe of courage is the fear itself,
not the object of it,
and the man who can overcome his own terror
is a hero and more.

Whatever you do, you need courage.
Whatever course you decide upon, there is
always someone to tell you you are wrong.
There are always difficulties arising which
tempt you to believe that your critics are right.
To map out a course of action and follow it to the end,
requires some of the same courage which a soldier needs.
Peace has its victories, but it takes brave men to win them.
