This one is really a paraphrased Japanese proverb. Which, given the samurai aspects of Shienar and Malkier, which reference a population that might be of the same ethnicity, it makes sense.

One thing I always liked about Robert Jordan was his way of interspersing samples of folk wisdom into his epic storytelling. Characters like Lini, for example.
