I never write Metropolis for seven cents because I can get the same price for city. I never write policeman because I can get the same money for cop.

~Mark Twain

“When I was ten, I read fairy tales in secret and would have been ashamed if I had been found doing so. Now that I am fifty, I read them openly. When I became a man I put away childish things, including the fear of childishness and the desire to be very grown up.”
~C.S. Lewis~

Stashed for Remembrance

“People are often unreasonable and self-centered. Forgive them anyway.
If you are kind, people may accuse you of ulterior motives. Be kind anyway.
If you are honest, people may cheat you. Be honest anyway.
If you find happiness, people may be jealous. Be happy anyway.
The good you do today may be forgotten tomorrow. Do good anyway.
Give the world the best you have and it may never be enough. Give your best anyway.
For you see, in the end, it is between you and God. It was never between you and them anyway.” ― Mother Teresa

“Forgiveness is not an occasional act, it is a constant attitude.” ― Martin Luther King Jr.

Quote of the Day!

~Do not believe in anything simply because you have heard it.

Do not believe in anything simply because it is spoken and rumored by many.

Do not believe in anything simply because it is found written in your religious books.

Do not believe in anything merely on the authority of your teachers and elders.

Do not believe in traditions because they have been handed down for many generations.

But after observation and analysis, when you find that anything agrees with reason and is conducive to the good and benefit of one and all, then accept it and live up to it. ~

Buddha

:rose:

Our greatest happiness in life does not depend
on the condition of life in which chance has
placed us, but is always the result of
good conscience, good health, occupation,
and freedom in all just pursuits.

-- Thomas Jefferson

Quote of the Day!

~ Lay a firm foundation with the bricks that others throw at you ~

-David Brinkley

"Once for each thing. Just once; no more. And we too,
just once. And never again. But to have been
this once, completely, even if only once:
to have been at one with the earth, seems beyond undoing."

from Duino Elegies, IX, Rainer Maria Rilke

Anger Conscience Kindness

I have a right to my anger, and I don't want anybody telling me I shouldn't be, that it's not nice to be, and that something's wrong with me because I get angry. ~Maxine Waters, in Brian Lanker, I Dream a World, 1989

Before I can live with other folks, I’ve got to live with myself. The one thing that doesn’t abide by majority rule is a person’s conscience. ~Harper Lee, To Kill a Mockingbird

The ideals which have lighted my way, and time after time have given me new courage to face life cheerfully, have been Kindness, Beauty, and Truth. The trite subjects of human efforts, possessions, outward success, luxury have always seemed to me contemptible. ~Albert Einstein

Things to remember...

‎"Again the Ghost sped on, above the black and heaving sea -- on, on -- until, being far away, as he told Scrooge, from any shore, they lighted on a ship. They stood beside the helmsman at the wheel, the look-out in the bow, the officers who had the watch; dark, ghostly figures in their several stations; but every man among them hummed a Christmas tune, or had a Christmas thought, or spoke below his breath to his companion of some bygone Christmas Day, with homeward hopes belonging to it. And every man on board, waking or sleeping, good or bad, had had a kinder word for another on that day than on any day in the year; and had shared to some extent in its festivities; and had remembered those he cared for at a distance, and had known that they delighted to remember him."

A Christmas Carol, Charles Dickens

:rose:

In doing your work in the great world,
it is a safe plan to follow a rule I once
heard on the football field: Don't flinch,
don't fall; hit the line hard.

- Theodore Roosevelt

Yes, I was infatuated with you: I am still. No one has ever heightened such a keen capacity of physical sensation in me. I cut you out because I couldn’t stand being a passing fancy. Before I give my body, I must give my thoughts, my mind, my dreams. And you weren’t having any of those.
Sylvia Plath.

It looks like I'm going to be OK after all. :D

I watch the sunrise often and even have a special collection of sunrise and sunset photos collected over the years.

And I often look to the heavens and gaze upon the stars. I have a telescope I built from scratch and sometimes, just love to lay on my back and look up at the stars unaided. Especially when I am far enough from the city lights and glow to see the Milky Way in all it's glory.

I prop my feet up every chance I get. Even on my desk at the office. :D

I have a trampoline in my backyard. So I jump often and even use it to lay on to gaze upon the stars at night.

So I have more than half of them covered. :)
