Quote of the Day!

WILD GEESE
by Mary Oliver

You do not have to be good.
You do not have to walk on your knees
For a hundred miles through the desert, repenting.
You only have to let the soft animal of your body
love what it loves.
Tell me about your despair, yours, and I will tell you mine.
Meanwhile the world goes on.
Meanwhile the sun and the clear pebbles of the rain
are moving across the landscapes,
over the prairies and the deep trees,
the mountains and the rivers.
Meanwhile the wild geese, high in the clean blue air,
are heading home again.
Whoever you are, no matter how lonely,
the world offers itself to your imagination,
calls to you like the wild geese, harsh and exciting --
over and over announcing your place
in the family of things.

I love this đź’ž

My head is a complicated pile of thoughts,
and fears, and cravings, and dreams,
and this tangled up nostalgia for the past
and, somehow, the future.

I am flawed and I am human
I am broken and I am trying
and I am one person,
and I am two hands,
and I am one heart.

Quote of the day!

'Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways - Chardonnay in one hand - chocolate in the other - body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming 'WOO HOO, What a Ride'

~ Adrian Cogan ~

Quote of the Day.

Love and compassion are necessities, not luxuries. Without them humanity cannot survive.

I adore this woman.:rose:

Quote of the Day

“I am an excitable person who only understands life lyrically, musically, in whom feelings are much stronger as reason. I am so thirsty for the marvelous that only the marvelous has power over me. Anything I can not transform into something marvelous, I let go. Reality doesn't impress me. I only believe in intoxication, in ecstasy, and when ordinary life shackles me, I escape, one way or another. No more walls.”

~ Anais Nin ~

“Don't be amazed if you see my eyes always wandering. In fact, this is my way of reading, and it is only in this way that reading proves fruitful to me. If a book truly interests me, I cannot follow it for more than a few lines before my mind, having seized on a thought that the text suggests to it, or a feeling, or a question, or an image, goes off on a tangent and springs from thought to thought, from image to image, in an itinerary of reasonings and fantasies that I feel the need to pursue to the end, moving away from the book until I have lost sight of it. The stimulus of reading is indispensable to me, and of meaty reading, even if, of every book, I manage to read no more than a few pages. But those few pages already enclose for me whole universes, which I can never exhaust.”

― Italo Calvino, If on a Winter's Night a Traveler

Quote of the Day!

Don't think that because you haven't heard from me for a while that I went to sleep. I am still here, like a spirit roaming the night. Thirsty, hungry, seldom stopping to rest.

Without a quickening of the heart.
For who can bear to feel himself forgotten?”

Glad to contribute, hon.

“Getting an education was a bit like a communicable sexual disease. It made you unsuitable for a lot of jobs and then you had the urge to pass it on.”

Quote of the Day!
Life is a process of becoming, a combination of states we have to go through.
Where people fail is that they wish to elect a state and remain in it.
This is a kind of death.

Quote of the Day.

“The only way out of the labyrinth of suffering is to forgive.”

"People do not fall in love with the things that are true. They fall in love with what they believe to be true, and for this reason, the world is littered with broken hearts. When you live in dreams, they will inevitably shatter.

Most people live on a scaffolding, my son. You will hear words like duty, honor, and love repeated until you are sick of them. Many times you will hear them linked, as if being dutiful and loyal will earn you love, and those you love will honor you. This is as false as a thief.

Here is truth: you cannot control another human soul, in the way that is most vital. You can try. You can manipulate them; take away the things they love, or give them what they desire; terrify them into submission and debase them, or raise them to glory. They may even do everything you want, for a time. But one day they will be gone, and for whatever reason you did it, those reasons will be as dust. They might as well never have existed.

If you can learn this, my son - really learn it, not merely think it, but know it, then you will find the most precious commodity there is: the knowledge that no one can control you, either.

And then you will be free to live your life, with no need of guarantees."

- Eileen Prince

This deserves to be here Veroe not buried in your picture thread.:)

I agree, words to Remember and live by!

I agree it should have a place here, but it isn't actually a quote since we don't know who originally said it. However such a technicality aside people should read it and learn from it.
