And yet you leave out the preamble of the Bill of Rights, which specifically addressed that this was a restrictions on the government, not the people, as this was undertaken after the US Constitution was written and ratified, and those same founding fathers, realized that they didn't "restrict" the government powers enough, they added the Bill of Rights to further restrict the government and give the people more protections of their freedoms. And then add in the Declaration of Independence that identifies self-defense as an inalienable right.

The preamble to the Declaration of Independence contains the entire theory of American government in a single, inspiring passage:
"We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness..."

Embodied in the 2nd Amendment is the truth that self-governing individuals should bear the responsibility for defending themselves.

The establishing of a government oversight of the people's arms was not only NOT the intent in using the phrase in the 2nd amendment, it was precisely to render the government powerless to do so that the founders wrote it.

The Preamble of the Bill of Rights is not part of the Constitution. Neither is the original Article One of the Bill of Rights. The First Amendment was Article Three of the Bill of Rights.

ah, but the preamble, like the US Constitutions preamble identifies the reason why the US Constitution and the Bill of Rights were written, not to constrain the people but to constrain the government. the 2nd Amendment exists specifically for one reason to exclude the US Government and all 50 State governments from enacting any infringements, no gun, knife, explosive control laws are constitutional from the clearly worded 2nd Amendment, no exceptions.
