Having an expanded voting form by default would probably kill the voting.

The other site where I post has an optional, expanded voting form called the TPA score

( Technical, Plot, Appeal )

Only the appeal portion of the score is used when determining your overall average score, but the full TPA is displayed as long as enough people choose to use that optional form ( I believe it's 15 votes to register either the regular or TPA score )

My pure stroke stories get the same 8-9 range for plot as my longer tales, though. The readers who will bother with the optional form seem to grade stories based upon similar stories, rather than putting epics with all sorts of twists and turns up against simple hot-n-sweaty tales.

The feedback I get is interesting. In some cases, I've had readers say, "In the next chapter, you should have the characters do this..." with some advice taking the story down some completely different path that wasn't even hinted at in prevous chapters.

I also get people posting to my stories occasionally with 'this character should do this or that.' It's just a manifestation of what I posted about before. Readers are looking for a story that addresses their very specific interests and fetishes, so they're hoping to influence the author to write what they want to read. My stories are always finished before I start posting them, so that's not something I could do even were I open to the idea.

That's a good idea. I usually write a chapter and post it rather than posting the whole story all at the same time. I did get some feedback one time that said something like, "Don't bother continuing this story. It was terrible and no one wants to read more," but that was on a story that really wasn't all that great anyway.
