Good morning!
MrSB had a robotic prostatectomy over 3½ years ago. He's been cancer free since then.
His surgeon was fantastic but is a jackass. MrSB had very low Testosterone and wanted to go back on Testosterone therapy but his surgeon refused to clear him for it even after all this time.
He saw another doctor and has been doing T injections since October. He had labs done a couple of weeks ago.
Intellectually, I know that Testosterone doesn't cause prostate cancer. The study done in the 30-40's has been proven wrong. Testosterone can make the PSA go up but does not cause cancer.
Emotionally, I've been worried that he would have a PSA reading above undetectable. Because the prostate was removed, if he has a PSA reading that means ultimately they didn't get it all and it did go outside the prostate.
So I have BIG news to share from today. His lab results are PSA: UNDETECTABLE!!! Testosterone 894 which is a great number. I can breathe again. Really breathe again. I didn't think I was holding in such emotion till he told me. The tears are flowing even as I type this.
I can breathe!!!
Now....back to the fun stuff!
Very glad to hear this SB!
In my own case, I had radioactive seed implants (brachytherapy) in 1999 which accomplishes the same thing but without surgery. My PSA declined on the asymptotic curve to undetectable over the next several years, and by 2004 was undetectable. Followups each year showed undetectable year by year. Only random testing since 2010, last one was August 2016, still undetectable.
Yes, I am an engineer, so of course there has to be a chart to show!

That small rise in 2003 had me worried for a while, but the doctors say this often occurs after brachytherapy and is temporary (they call it a 'PSA bounce'). Have not charted since 2010, but it is zero since then.
