Sorry for assuming your intent.

And I understand why the website editors wouldn't want to deal with a lot of code, but they could just as easily limit it to only certain tags or eliminate it entirely. Personally, I'm glad the conversation turned, because in my last two submissions, I didn't even use italics because I didn't want to submit a word document. Now that I know I can just include it in the submission form, I'm a lot happier.

And does anyone know if they are planning on re-vamping the site any time soon? Just seems like there's a lot of wasted space and the submission form could use an updating.

A problem I have--I use italics both in the forum and the story file--is that, as I noted way up the line, the code is different for the two. I'd really like the site to be able to take it as submitted rather than me having to go through it to put in the coding, but another site I post at can't take italics at all. So, all things are relevant.

It probably wouldn't be that difficult to enable the text processor to handle both bbcode and html tags for the allowed formatting options. After all, in most cases, the only difference is the type of bracket enclosing the tags.

Of course, we're probably just tossing hopes and wishes to the wind

Or it could be that the website doesn't want to have all sorts of fancy formatting running around on its story file.

I was talking about the same allowed formatting we have now, but also processing the bbcode version.

[i] and <i> would both process as italics.

Agree that something is annoying and get jumped on... yeesh...

It would be especially nice when you've sent a story to be looked at by someone else via PM. You wouldn't have to find/replace the tags for final posting. They could go in as is.

It's showing. So maybe there's something not clicked in your personal profile?

In your user CP under Edit Options, do you have the box next to "show signature" checked off? That might be the issue, since I'm really new and I just updated my signature with this kitty cat smilie and it works.

That was indeed the problem. Looks like you could see my signature before I could.

I was wondering why I couldn't see anybody else's sig-line all of a sudden either!
