We should delete a sticky for every new sticky - the EF already has enough Sticky threads.

Other than that - I think it is a perfectly geeky idea - perfect for this forum and worthy of its creator.rogue is a geek

ah .. I knew you loved me. Geek is a term of endearment, you know.

btw .. what's up with your eyes?

I agree that the sticky threads are getting a bit out of hand. Maybe we could combine some of them, or delete one that's not that useful anymore.

don't agree with her .. she'll become insufferable.

Which threads? Do you want to go through them and condense into one?

I heartily agree with that proposition, Kbate. :) I'll probably join the Alternate Editor's list with the Writing reference thread. It's only one sticky deleted but it's one that is easily done and it won't damage anything.

I don't see a typo. :D

as for the farther/further ... I can set up another poll ...

farther should be used for physical distance (the new rocket travelled farther than the test versions)

further is more of an abstract term (nothing was further from my mind)

oh yeah ... oops

Goody, I was right! :D (doesn't happen often - I'm a wife and mother after all!) I can never remember further/farther with certainty and my dictionary isn't much help, it gives exactly the same definition for each of them.

Should not that entire list be in the present tense? - Discuss.

That depends on the time and revision number of the story when the writer opens the sticky to review their rejection notice - thus either tense can be appropriate.

I'll leave that one up to you. :)

The list of alternate editors - is this something that should be revisited/updated? Some of the offers for editing are close to two years old and I'm not sure whether they are still active or not. Perhaps an "EF Roll Call" list instead where editors can sign in and list their preferences/availabiltiy?

I will wait until there's been a few more opinions, but I'm leaning towards kbate's reply as it involves less revisions.

Whilst it's not my place to suggest how you guys do this (being a lowly author n all and a rubbish one at that) but, um i second this motion for an EF role call as RL suggests above.

When looking at the VE listings and profiles/ whatever you call 'em on the main site, it's a) bloody annoying looking for people b) lengthy (and as much as it looks like i have nothing better to do than be here, i can assure you a girl's gotta eat ;)).

Anyway, for those that know it, perhaps such a listing could be set up like the AH fantasy character list- where the 1st post has a direct link to either the post by each VE later in the thread, or a direct link to their main editor profiles on the site?

*gets off soapbox and scurries away* :D

I can get rid of it completely if no-one sees a use for it. My idea stemmed from good sentiments but it didn't seem to have caught.

As for the Roll-call idea you have....wellll once again.....it's on a voluntary basis and you have to keep in mind that it might attract the same kind of unwanted attention as our idea of "green list". Remember that idea? It got scrapped pretty quickly huh? Well, I'm afraid that the roll-call would do the same thing....some might say that the roll-call serves as a "favourite' list.

Not all VE come frequently on the EF but it doesn't mean they're not actively editing.

Oh dear, I remember that like it was yesterday.

Well a preference/availability list would not be any kind of quality control, which I think is where the main problem with the green list lay. Although I'm not sure how we would check if certain editors are still editing

Poll closes tomorrow ... so here's a bump for anyone that missed it (because there is so much traffic on this forum - :D )

CBS, NBC, ABC, and CNN are all projecting victory. :)
